CITY OF HENDERSON CITY COUNCIL MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING Tuesday, November 21, 2017 I. CALL TO ORDER Mayor March called the Special Meeting to order at 4:45 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada 89015. Mayor March announced this meeting is being video recorded and streamed live to the Internet. II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL The City Clerk confirmed the Special Meeting had been noticed in compliance with the Open Meeting Law by posting the Agenda three working days prior to the meeting at City Hall, the Multigenerational Center, the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, Fire Station No. 86, the Nevada Public Notice Website, the City of Henderson Website, and by mailing a copy of the Agenda to everyone appearing thereon on the Agenda Master Mailing List. Present: Debra March, Mayor Dan K. Shaw, Councilman Gerri Schroder, Councilwoman John F. Marz, Councilman Dan H. Stewart, Councilman Absent: None Officers: Gregory Blackburn, Assistant City Manager Sabrina Mercadante, City Clerk Josh Reid, City Attorney Absent: Robert Murnane, City Manager Staff: Richard Derrick, Chief Financial Officer Tedie Jackson, Official Records Reporter Alyssa Perea, Deputy City Clerk Henderson City Council Special Meeting Page 2 of 3 Tuesday, November 21, 2017 – Minutes III. PUBLIC COMMENT Jim Coleman, President of the African American Club for Sun City Anthem, presented flowers to Police Chief LaTesha S. Watson and invited her to attend a meet and greet event on December 14, 2017. IV. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA (Motion) Councilwoman Gerri Schroder moved to accept the agenda as presented. The roll call vote favoring passage was: Those voting aye: Debra March, John F. Marz, Gerri Schroder, Dan K. Shaw, and Dan H. Stewart. Those voting nay: None. Those absent: None. Those abstaining: None. Mayor March declared the motion carried. V. ITEMS OF BUSINESS S-1 CEREMONIAL OATH OF OFFICE LATESHA S. WATSON, POLICE CHIEF CITY CLERK'S OFFICE The City Clerk will administer a Ceremonial Oath of Office to the newly appointed Police Chief, LaTesha S. Watson. (Motion) City Clerk Sabrina Mercadante administered the Oath of Office and presented the Certificate of Appointment to newly appointed Police Chief LaTesha S. Watson. Ms. Watson thanked her family and friends for their support and guidance in making the decision to accept the Police Chief appointment. VI. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Council, Mayor March, in concurrence with the Council, adjourned the Special Meeting at 4:56 p.m. Mayor March invited everyone present to a reception in honor of Chief Watson in the Council Chambers Conference Room.
