December 7, 2015
MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman John Casanova called the Commemorative Beautification
Commission Meeting to order at 5:33 p.m., at 105 W. Basic Road, in the
Facilities Management Conference Room.
II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL
Joanne Wershba, Recording Secretary, confirmed the Commemorative
Beautification Commission had been noticed in compliance with the Open
Meeting Law by posting the Agenda three working days prior to the meeting at
City Hall, the Multigenerational Center, the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center,
Fire Station No. 86, the Nevada Public Notice Website, the City of Henderson
Website, and by mailing a copy of the Agenda to everyone appearing thereon
on the Agenda Master Mailing List.

III. PUBLIC COMMENT
No comments were presented by the public.
IV. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA
(Motion) Ms. Lewis introduced a motion to accept the agenda as presented,
seconded by Ms. Trujillo. The vote favoring approval was
unanimous. Chairman Casanova declared the motion carried.

V. NEW BUSINESS
1 MINUTES NOVEMBER 10, 2015
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Adopt the minutes of November 10, 2015.
(Motion) Ms. Lewis introduced a motion to adopt the November 10, 2015,
minutes as presented, seconded by Ms. Trujillo. The vote favoring
approval was unanimous. Chairman Casanova declared the
motion carried.
2 STAFF REPORTS
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Staff representative will provide information on the Commission Budget, Urban
Forestry Report, Clean-up Trailer Program, Banners and Flags, and Staff
Announcements.
Ray Everhart, Park Operations Manager, reported that the job description for
the Urban Forestry position is being revised. The position may be posted at the
beginning of next year. The Christmas Tree Recycling program is being set up
again and a new drop-off site will be added at the Multigenerational Center.
3 COMMUNITY PRIDE AWARD

For Possible Action.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve.
Discuss and approve Community Pride nominations
No Community Pride Award nominations were presented.

4 VOLUNTEER HOURS
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Commission members will report the number of volunteer hours they completed
for the month.
Chairman Casanova reported one hour; Ms. Jacobson reported six hours;
Ms. Lewis reported one hour; Ms. Trujillo reported four hours; and Mr. Turcaz
reported three hours.
VI. CHAIRMAN\MEMBER COMMENTS
Ms. Wershba informed the commission that new sponsorship brochures will be ready
soon so the members can have the brochures to present to potential sponsors. She
also told the commission that she would email the brochure so they can print it out if
they need it.
Ms. Jacobson reported that she attended the Stroll n’ Roll event in Inspirada and it was
well-attended.
Ms. Trujillo reminded everyone on the commission that the Henderson Chamber of
Commerce is holding its annual Celebrate Water Street Holiday Event on Tuesday,
December 8, 2015, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Henderson Convention Center. This
event is sponsored by the City of Henderson Redevelopment Department.
Mayor Hafen will be attending along with Councilwoman Schroeder and Councilwoman
March. City Manager Bob Murnane will also be present. A guest speaker will be
sharing information regarding the revitalization of Downtown Henderson. This free
event will be offering catered hors d’oeuvres and an open bar.
VII. SET NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at 6:00 p.m.

IX. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Commission, Chairman Casanova
adjourned the meeting at 5:50 p.m.

COURTESY NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that some of the members of the Commemorative
Beautification Commission and other City staff shall participate in the Holiday Judging Tour
on Monday December 7, 2015. This is strictly an event whereby there will be no
Commemorative Beautification Commission deliberation or action items during the event.
The event will begin at approximately 5:45 p.m. and will end at approximately 10:00 p.m.
The next regularly scheduled Commemorative Beautification Commission meeting will be
held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Facilities Management Conference
Room, 105 W. Basic Road, Henderson, Nevada 89015
