CITY OF HENDERSON COMMEMORATIVE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION MINUTES REGULAR MEETING Tuesday, October 10, 2017 I. CALL TO ORDER NOTE: DUE TO LACK OF A QUORUM, THE MEETING WAS CANCELLED. II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL Joanne Wershba, Recording Secretary, confirmed the Commemorative Beautification Commission had been noticed in compliance with the Open Meeting Law by posting the Agenda three working days prior to the meeting at the Facilities Management Building, City Hall, the Multigenerational Center, the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, Fire Station No. 86, the Nevada Public Notice Website, the City of Henderson Website, and by emailing a copy of the Agenda to everyone appearing thereon on the Agenda Master Mailing List. PUBLIC COMMENT Items discussed under Public Comment cannot be acted upon at this meeting, but may be referred to a future agenda for consideration. Individuals speaking on an item will be limited to three (3) minutes and spokespersons for a group will be limited to ten (10) minutes, at the discretion of the Chairman. IV. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA (For Possible Action) V. NEW BUSINESS NB-1 MINUTES COMMEMORATIVE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION SEPTEMBER 12, 2017 PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Commemorative Beautification Commission minutes of September 12, 2017. NB-2 ELECTION OF CHAIR PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Elect Commission members will elect a Chair. NB-3 ELECTION OF VICE-CHAIR PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Elect Commission members will elect a Vice-chair. Commemorative Beautification Commission Page 3 of 5 Tuesday, October 10, 2017 – Minutes NB-4 WATER STREET HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Commission members will discuss details of and choose a theme for the holiday decorating contest, which the Commission discussed naming Water Street Wonderland at the September 12 meeting, to be judged on Monday, December 4, 2017. Commission members will also discuss possible post-judging locations for a Commission member dinner. NB-5 WATER STREET HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST FUNDS PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Commission members will vote on funds for the Water Street holiday decorating contest awards and for the food expenses for the judging members in an amount not to exceed $350. NB-6 CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING PROGRAM PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Commission members will vote on funds for the Christmas Tree Recycling Program in an amount not to exceed $7,500. NB-7 WINTERFEST PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Commission members will vote on funds for Winterfest in an amount not to exceed $1,500. Commemorative Beautification Commission Page 4 of 5 Tuesday, October 10, 2017 – Minutes NB-8 STAFF REPORTS PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION Staff Representative will provide information on the Commission budget, Municipal Forestry report, Clean-Up Trailer program, banners, flags, and staff announcements and respond to questions from Commission members. NB-9 COMMUNITY PRIDE COMMEMORATION PROGRAM AND NOMINATIONS PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION For Possible Action. RECOMMENDATION: Approve Commission members will discuss the Community Pride Commemoration program and discuss and vote on any Community Pride Award nominations. VI. CHAIRMAN\MEMBER COMMENTS The Chairman and Members may speak on any subject under this section of the agenda. Chairman and Members may comment on matters including, without limitation, future agenda items, upcoming meeting dates, and meeting procedures. Comments made cannot be acted upon or discussed at this meeting, but may be placed on a future agenda for consideration. VII. SET NEXT MEETING VIII.
