COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES
December 4, 2017
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Turcaz called the Commemorative Beautification Commission to
order at 5:30 p.m. at 105 W. Basic Road in the Facilities Management
Conference Room.
CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL

Joanne Wershba, Recording Secretary, confirmed the Commemorative
Beautification Commission had been noticed in compliance with the Open
Meeting Law by posting the Agenda three working days prior to the meeting at
the Facilities Management Building, City Hall, the Multigenerational Center, the
Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, Fire Station No. 8i6, the Nevada Public
Notice Website, the City of Henderson Website, and by emailing a copy of the
Agenda to everyone appearing thereon on the Agenda Master Mailing List.

IV. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA
(Motion) Ms. Jacobson introduced a motion to accept the agenda as
presented. The vote favoring approval was unanimous. Chairman
Turcaz declared the motion carried.

COMMEMORATIVE BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
NOVEMBER 14, 2017
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Commemorative Beautification Commission minutes of November 14, 2017.
It was noted on page 4 of the minutes of November 14, 2017, that an
amendment needs to be made to change the name of the nominee of the
Downtown Redevelopment District for the Community Pride Award to the Water
Street District Business Association.
(Motion) Ms. Park introduced a motion to adopt the November 14, 2017
minutes as amended. The vote favoring approval was unanimous.
Chairman Turcaz declared the motion carried.
NB-2 STAFF REPORTS
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Staff Representative will provide information on the Commission budget,
Municipal Forestry report, Clean-up Trailer program, banners, flags, and
announcements and respond to questions from Commission members.
Mr. Guild gave the following updates:
Budget update: There have been no changes to the budget at this
time.
There are 12 businesses that entered the Holiday Decorating Contest.
They run from Ocean St. to Victory Blvd. This is around 1 mile
walking distance that we will be judging this evening.
Municipal Forestry Report: Christmas tree recycling begins December
26th. People can drop off their Christmas trees at the various parks
and they will be recycled for tree mulch in our parks. Each park will
have a lot for drop off: Mission Hills Park, Morrell Park, Whitney
Ranch Recreation Center, Arroyo Grande, Multigenerational Center,
and Anthem Hills Park.

Cleanup Trailer – Cleanup use of the trailer scheduled for Saturday,
December 9, at Mission Hills Park. This is a Boy Scouts clean-up
project.
Holiday banners have been hung in addition to the Be Kind Banners.
The Be Kind banners will take the place of the standard yellow City of
Henderson banners.
NB-3 COMMUNITY PRIDE COMMEMORATION PROGRAM
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Commission members will discuss the Community Pride Commendation
program and discuss and vote on any Community Pride Award nominations.
Discussion ensued about nominating a boy scout troop or several troops for the
Community Pride Award. Chairman Turcaz will do research as to which troop is
doing the cleanup with the cleanup trailer for this coming weekend.

VII. SET NEXT MEETING
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.

There being no further business to come before the Commission, Chairman
Turcaz adjourned the meeting at 6:00 p.m.
