CITY OF HENDERSON PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD COUNCIL CHAMBERS CONFERENCE ROOM MINUTES December 7, 2016 I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting of the Parks and Recreation Board was called to order by Chairman Jim Perkins at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers Conference Room, 240 Water Street, Henderson, Nevada. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING Paula Harris, Recording Secretary, confirmed the Parks and Recreation Board had been noticed in compliance with the Open Meeting Law by posting the agenda three working days prior to the meeting at City Hall, the Multigenerational Center, the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, Fire Station No. 86, the Nevada Public Notice Website, the City of Henderson Website, and by mailing a copy of the agenda to everyone appearing thereon on the Agenda Master Mailing List. III. PUBLIC COMMENT There were no comments presented by the public. IV. ACCEPTANCE OF AGENDA (Motion) Mr. Holman introduced a motion to accept the agenda, as presented. The vote favoring approval was unanimous. Chairman Perkins declared the motion carried. V. NEW BUSINESS NB-1 MINUTES NOVEMBER 2, 2016 Adopt the minutes of the November 2, 2016 meeting. (Motion) Mr. Holman introduced a motion to Adopt the minutes of the November 2, 2016, meeting, as presented. The vote favoring approval was unanimous. Chairman Perkins declared the motion carried. NB-2 STAFF INTRODUCTIONS Introduction of our new Recreation Services Managers Nick McLemore, Angela Summers and Xanie Gann. The following members introduced themselves to the Board: Xanie Gann, Recreation Services Manager; Nick McLemore, Recreation Services Manager; and Angela Summers, Recreation Services Manager. NB-3 PARKS AND TRAILS UPDATES Parks Project Manager, Amie Wojtech will give updates on various city parks Parks and Recreation Board Page 3 of 4 December 7, 2016 – Minutes and trails under construction. Amie Wojtech, Park Project Manager, gave a PowerPoint presentation and updated the Board on all projects that are currently under construction. Areas of discussion included: Union Village, Cadence Parcel G, Esselmont Park Phase II, I-215 Trail Phase II, Boulder Highway Trail Enhancements, Pueblo Trail Enhancements, I-11 Pedestrian Bridge, Foxridge Park, Amargosa Trail Pedestrian Bridge, Black Mountain Pickleball Courts, Green Valley Streetscapes Phase II, Stephanie/Stufflebeam Trail, Hard Court Surfacing Project, O’Callaghan Dog Park, Mountain View Safety Surfacing, Park Planter Revegetation Project, and Wells Park Fencing. NB-4 PARKS AND TRAILS UNAUTHORIZED MOTORVEHICLE USE Discussion of unauthorized motorized vehicles being used on parks and trails. Ray Everhart, Parks Superintendent, gave a brief presentation on the use of unauthorized motorized vehicles on City parks and trails. A discussion ensued regarding the best way to deal with this problem. NB-5 STAFF REPORT Announcements of upcoming grand openings, ground breakings, special events, awards and/or programs. Sheri Ferguson, Asst. Director of Public Works, Parks and Recreation, presented the staff report which highlighted upcoming events at Henderson Parks and Recreation facilities. VI. CHAIRMAN\MEMBER COMMENTS: There were no comments presented. VII. SET NEXT MEETING: The next meeting was set for January 4, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. VIII. PUBLIC COMMENT There were no comments presented by the public. IX.
