MINUTES
November 16, 2016
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Dan Hyde called the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission Meeting to
order at 5:30 p.m., at 240 Water Street, Henderson City Hall, in the Council
Chambers Conference Room.
II. CONFIRMATION OF POSTING AND ROLL CALL
Monica Rivera, Administrative Assistant II, confirmed the meeting had been
posted in accordance with the Open Meeting Law by posting the agenda three
working days prior to the meeting at City Hall, Multigenerational Center,
Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, and Fire Station No. 86.

III. PUBLIC COMMENT
There were no comments presented by the public.
IV. ACCEPTANCE OF THE AGENDA
(Motion) Ms. McEvers introduced a motion to accept the agenda as
presented. The vote favoring approval was unanimous.
Chairman Hyde declared the motion carried.
V. NEW BUSINESS
NB-1 MINUTES OCTOBER 19, 2016
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Adopt the minutes of October 19, 2016 meeting.
(Motion) Ms. Nies introduced a motion to adopt the minutes as
presented. The vote favoring approval was unanimous.
Chairman Hyde declared the motion carried.
NB-2 HENDERSON SENIORS' AUXILIARY PRESENTATION
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
A member of the Henderson Seniors' Auxiliary will give their monthly report on
activities of the organization.
Marianne Stanger, Henderson Seniors’ Auxiliary, gave an update on the
monthly activities of the Henderson Senior’s Auxiliary.
NB-3 AARP LIVABLE COMMUNITIES CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
PRESENTATION
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
A presentation will be made by an AARP representative regarding highlights
from the 2016 AARP Livable Communities Conference.
Stacey Youngblood, Housing Specialist II for Neighborhood Services, gave a
PowerPoint presentation regarding the AARP Livable Communities 2016
National Conference. Areas of discussion included housing and transportation.

NB-4 FUTURE SENIOR INFORMATIONAL FORUM
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Commission members will discuss and possibly vote on whether to host a future
informational forum and the details of the forum.
Chairman Hyde presented the idea of hosting a future senior informational
forum.
Discussion ensued regarding topics of interest for a future forum, and the
frequency of hosting the forums. It was suggested that future forums take place
during the day at the Heritage Park Senior Center.
(Motion) Ms. Jolliff introduced a motion to have a senior forum on
Guardianship in Nevada. The vote favoring approval
was unanimous. Chairman Hyde declared the motion carried.
NB-5 SENIOR MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAM
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Commission members will receive information from Staff regarding the current
operation of the Meals on Wheels program and will discuss community support
for the program.
Corey Clark, Recreation Services Manager, reviewed the monthly Meals on
Wheels report, and corrected the October home bound meals number to 9,201.
He also briefed the commission on working with the City’s Marketing division on
ways to use social media outlets and create marketing collateral to assist in the
support of the Meals on Wheels program.
NB-6 STAFF REPORT
PUBLIC WORKS, PARKS AND RECREATION
Recreation Services Manager, Corey Clark, will give an update on the City's
senior services.
Corey Clark informed the commission that the City has been role playing in an
emergency preparedness exercise to prepare us in the event of an emergency.

VI. CHAIRMAN/MEMBER COMMENTS
Liz Baldizan congratulated JoAnn McEvers on being a finalist for the AARP
Andrus Award.
VII. SET NEXT MEETING
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on December 21, 2016, at
5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers Conference Room of City Hall.
VIII. PUBLIC COMMENT
There were no comments presented by the public.
IX. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Commission, the meeting
was adjourned at 6:22 p.m.
