City Council Meeting

OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS CITY OF HERREID, SOUTH DAKOTA May 22, 2023 The Herreid City Council was called to order by Mayor Gary Weismantel on the above date at 7:30pm at City Hall. The following members were present: A. Dupper, K. Rossow, B. Vander Vorst, P. Weisbeck, and L. Fuehrer. Also present were: Orland Geigle, Prairie Pioneer; B. Van Vugt; Maintenance Personnel, A. Hague; Finance Officer. Motioned by A. Dupper, seconded by L. Fuehrer to approve the agenda. All members present voted aye, motion carried. AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY to be driving on the DYKE. Fines will be administered for those who are driving on it. Niccum Bill-Niccums presented a bill from their mail box being knocked over. Motioned by K. Rossow, seconded by L. Fuehrer to approve to pay it. All members present voted aye, motion carried. Motioned by L. Fuehrer, seconded by K. rossow to hire Janelle Rossow as pool manager, and Layla Haar as lifeguard for 2023 season. All members present voted aye, motion carried. Melinda Neeley stated lifeguard training will be June 2, 3, 4. Re-certs will be June 4. Moved by A. Dupper, seconded by K. Rossow to approve new certifications pay $100, while re-certs will be charged $50. For out of towners-$250 for new certification and $150 for recerts. Melinda will be treated as an Employee of the city for training, and not a contractor. Melinda will be paid $100 per new Certificate and $50 per Re-cert. all members present voted aye, motion carried. A. Hague submitted resignation letter. Motioned by A. Dupper, seconded by B. Vander Vorst to go into executive session. Motioned by L. Fuehrer, seconded by B. Vander Vorst to come out of executive. Motioned by K. Rossow, seconded by Brady Vander Vorst to pay Janelle Rossow $14/hr as Pool Manager & to hire Keith Hall as Full Time Finance Officer for $23.50/hr + $3.50 stipend officially on June 1, 2023. All members present voted aye, motion carried. With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM. The next regular council meeting will be June 5, 2023 at 7:30 PM.
