Hernandez, Vice Chair Oscar De la Rosa, Secretary/Treasurer CHARTER SCHOOL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA February 25, 2020 6:30 p.m. Call to Order Roll Call of Oversight Committee Members Invocation given by Marbelys Fatjo, City Clerk Pledge of Allegiance led by Committee Member Perez MEETING GUIDELINES The following guidelines have been established by the City Council:  ALL LOBBYISTS MUST REGISTER WITH THE CITY CLERK  As a courtesy to others, please refrain from using cellular telephones or other similar electronic devices in the Council Chamber.  A maximum of three (3) speakers in favor and three (3) speakers in opposition will be allowed to address the Council on any one item. Each speaker’s comments will be limited to three (3) minutes.  No signs or placards, in support of or in opposition to an item or speaker, shall be permitted within the Council Chamber.  Members of the public may address the City Council on any item pertaining to City business during the Comments and Questions portion of the meeting. A member of the public is City of Hialeah Charter School Oversight Committee February 25, 2020 limited to one appearance before the City Council and the speaker’s comments will be limited to three (3) minutes. Presentations 1. Mayor Hernandez presents a Certificate of Recognition to the City of Hialeah Educational Academy for being Awarded a National STEM Program Certification by Cognia. This STEM Certification provides a proven, research-based framework and criteria from which to assess and validate the quality, rigor, and substance of STEM educational programs. Through this certification, COHEA builds awareness, increases expectations, and demonstrates a commitment and ability to deliver high-quality STEM education. 1) ANNOUNCEMENT OF AMENDMENTS/CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA 2) CONSENT AGENDA All items listed with letter designations are considered routine and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a Committee Member or a resident so requests, in which case the item(s) will be removed from the consent agenda and considered along with the regular order of business. A. Request permission to approve the summary minutes of the City of Hialeah Charter School Oversight Committee meeting held on November 12, 2019. B. Request permission to approve the executed Employee Agreement between City of Hialeah Educational Academy, Inc. and Anisa Almeida. C. Request permission to approve the executed Florida Department of Education Project Application for Plant Maintenance and Repairs in the amount of $3,257. D. Request permission to approve the executed Charter School Safe School Officer Monthly Attestation Forms for the months of November 2019, December 2019, January 2020, and February 2020. E. Request permission to approve the executed Florida Department of Education Project Application - Mental Health Grant, for supporting college and career counseling, in the amount of $24,856 (Well Rounded Educational Opportunities (ESEA Section 1407)). F. Request permission to approve the executed 2018-2019 Florida School Recognition Plan. 2 City of Hialeah Charter School Oversight Committee February 25, 2020 G. Request permission to approve the executed Florida Department of Education Project Application - Safety and Security of School Buildings Grant, in the amount of $16,132.60. 3) Presentation of Financial Reports by Academica Dade LLC A) Request permission to approve the quarterly financials, which include the updated the Balance Sheet Standard and Balance Sheet Unaudited as of December 2019, the Income Statement Profit & Loss Standard through December 2019, the Statement of Revenue, Expenditures, and Changes in Fund Balance Unaudited through December 2019, and the General Ledger report from July to December 2019.
