a. Motion to direct staff to release the November, 2024 contribution to the Citizens Fire
Company #1 of Highspire as indicated in the 2024 General Fund Budget (411.500).
Amount to be paid to the Company $2,500.00.
b. Motion to (approve/reject/table) Highspire Borough Ordinance No. 657 of 2024
amending Highspire Borough Ordinance No. 563 of 2007 by changing the term of office
of the Fire Chief from two (2) to Four (4) years.
c. Motion to (approve/reject/table) a conditional offer of employment be presented
to Cody S. McLachlan, for the position of Operator Trainee (full-time), at the
Highspire Waste Water Treatment Plant.
d. Motion to (approve/reject/table) a conditional offer of employment be presented
to Jed D. Halbleib, for the position of Operator Trainee (full-time), at the Highspire
Waste Water Treatment Plant.

ORDINANCE NO. 657 of 2024
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF THE
BOROUGH OF HIGHSPIRE, DAUPHIN COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA,
TO AMENDING HIGHSPIRE BOROUGH ORDINANCE No. 563 OF
2007 BY CHANGING THE TERM OF OFFICE OF THE FIRE CHIEF
FROM TWO (2) TO FOUR (4) YEARS.
WHEREAS, the Borough Council adopted Highspire Borough Ordinance No. 563 of 2007 on
March 20 2007 establishing oversight procedures for the Citizens’ Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 by
creating Part 4, Chapter 7 of the Borough’s Code of Ordinances; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Council desires to amend Highspire Borough Ordinance No. 563 of
2007 by changing the term of service of the Fire Chief from two (2) years to four (4) years.
BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED AND ENACTED, by the Borough Council of the Borough of Highspire,
and it is hereby ordained and enacted by the authority of the same as follows, to wit:
Section One
Chapter 7, Part 4, Section 4, Sub-section 402 “The Fire Chief” of the Highspire Code of Ordinances is
hereby amended by deletion of the following; “The term of office of each of the aforesaid positions is two
(2) years”, and replacing with the following; “The term of office for the Fire Chief is four (4) years and
the term of office of the Deputy Chief and Assistant Chief is two (2) years.”
Section Two
All ordinance or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
Section Three
This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its adoption.
BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED this 19th day of November, 2024.
