Committee of the Whole Meeting

__________________________________________________________________________________ COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MINUTES TUESDAY, March 12, 2024 Mayor Greg Kubarski called the Committee of the Whole meeting to order at 7:01 PM on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. Committee members present at the time the meeting was called to order were Tom Hotek, Leanne Beyer, Darrow Novy, Elizabeth Parish, and Rick Hanke. Mark Lankey telephoned into the meeting. Pat Moen and Randy Seeley were not present. Others present included: City Administrator Josh Finch, Police Chief Pat Clark, Administrative Associate Sara McDonald, Hillsboro Library Director Jackie Pysarenko, Nicolette Nauman of the Hillsboro Sentry Enterprise, and Mike Burch from the Streets Department. Mayor Kubarski asked if this meeting received proper public notice to which City Administrator Finch confirmed the meeting did receive proper notice. Motion by Hanke, second by Beyer, to approve the February 13th, 2024, Committee of a Whole meeting minutes. Motion carried. Safety and Welfare Chief Clark presented the Police Chief’s Report. Hillsboro Police Department received 136 calls in the previous month. Chief Clark reported a noted increase in animal related calls including two dog bite incidents and 4 animal at large. Improvements and Services City Administrator Finch provided discussion regarding road repair timelines and goals within the city. City Administrator Finch also discussed a timeline and goals for this year’s Block Party. Finance and Personnel The committee reviewed the bills and recommended the bills for Council approval for the next council meeting. City Administrator Finch presented his monthly report. Motion to enter back into open session by Beyer, second by Hanke at 8:16 PM. Motion carried. Motion by Beyer, second by Hotek to adjourn at 8:16 PM. Motion carried.
