MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
CITY OF HOBART, LAKE COUNTY, INDIANA
April 2, 2014
Call to Order – Moment of Silence: Mayor Snedecor called the meeting to order at 4:01 p.m. followed
by the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.
Roll Call: The following members were present: Mayor Snedecor, Mr. Lain and Mr. Ehrhardt. Also
present: Clerk-Treasurer Longer and Trish White, C-T Admin Asst. Absent: Attorney DeBonis.
Reading of Minutes: Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to accept and approve the minutes
of the Regular Meeting of the March 19, 2014 as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0)
Attorney DeBonis arrives
Correspondence: There was no correspondence.
Approval of Register of Claims and Payroll Claims: Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt, seconded by Mr. Lain,
to approve the register of claims and payroll claims as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0)
Approval of Agenda: Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt, seconded by Mr. Lain, to approve the agenda as
presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0)
Unfinished Business:
Petition from Neighborhood re: Safety Issues on Lillian and Ohio Street: Kenny Kainrath, et.al.: Mr.
Kainrath was not present. Mr. Snedecor stated that he has been in contact with Mr. Kainrath, they have
discussed the Bike Trail Project work to begin this year and it may include change of traffic control for
the safety of pedestrians. Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to remove this item from the
agenda and City Engineer Mr. Gralik will bring it back at a later date if needed. All aye, motion carried.

New Business:
Request to place signs in easements for Letter Carrier’s Food Drive: Laura Daley, Hobart Post
Office: Ms. Daley was present. Mr. Snedecor stated this is the same as years past. Mr. Hannigan will
work with Ms. Daley on placement of the signs. Ms. Daley will take down the signs Saturday after the
event. Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to approve under the direction of Mr. Hannigan.
All aye, motion carried. (3-0)
Request for access to City Property to conduct Soil Borings/Testing for possible 911 Tower Site at
approx.. 2411 W. Old Ridge Road: Mike Repay, President, Lake County Board of Commissioners;
Jack Allendorf, Lake County 911 Deputy Director:
Mr. Snedecor introduced Mr. Hitchcock who was present before the Board. Attorney DeBonis stated he
does not see any problem with the Board allowing access for the Soil Boring. Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt,
seconded by Mr. Lain, to grant access for soil boring at the tower site. All aye, motion carried. (3-0)
Announcements: There were no announcements.

Mr. Snedecor asked if there was anyone who wished to address the Board and there was no further
response.
Adjournment: Motion by Mr. Lain to adjourn. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) The meeting adjourned at
4:12 p.m.
