MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY CITY OF HOBART, LAKE COUNTY, INDIANA April 16, 2014 Call to Order – Moment of Silence: Mayor Snedecor called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence. Roll Call: The following members were present: Mayor Snedecor, Mr. Lain and Mr. Ehrhardt. Also present: Clerk-Treasurer Longer and Trish White, C-T Admin Asst. Absent: Attorney DeBonis. Reading of Minutes: Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to accept and approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the April 2, 2014 as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Correspondence: There was no correspondence. Approval of Register of Claims and Payroll Claims: Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt, seconded by Mr. Lain, to approve the register of claims and payroll claims as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Approval of Agenda: Mr. Snedecor asked to add: Agreement for the survey work Deep River / Lake George with SEH. Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt, seconded by Mr. Lain, to approve the agenda as amended. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Attorney DeBonis arrived. Unfinished Business: There was no unfinished business. New Business: Signing of Mylars: 1-lot subdivision (Albanese Addition) located approx. 1/4 mile west of the SW corner of Lincoln Highway and Grand Blvd., 21.015 acres: Mr. Snedecor stated that this went before the Plan Commission and the vote was 9-0 in favor of approval. Mr. Ehrhardt stated what they have presented is good use for the property. Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt, seconded by Mr. Lain, to approve and sign the Mylar’s as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Agreement for Professional Services with Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. re: Deep River Flood Risk Management Plan: Mr. Snedecor reviewed the minutes of the March 12, 2014 meeting of the Little Calumet River Basin Development Commission (LCRBDC) at which time they agreed to reimburse the City of Hobart for this study in the amount of $259,960 as Deep River and Lake George ultimately affects the Little Calumet River and the study would be helpful to planning and use of the watershed. Craig Hendrix, SEH, stated this is a time-sensitive study as much of it is done by satellite and once the trees have their full complement of leaves it becomes more difficult. Attorney DeBonis stated that a Memorandum of Understanding between the LCRBDC and the City of Hobart will need to be executed but recommended approval of this agreement to allow the work to begin. Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to approve the Agreement for Professional Services with SEH as presented and authorize the Mayor to execute the same. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Announcements: Mr. Snedecor asked if there was anyone who wished to address the Board and there was no further response. Adjournment: Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt to adjourn. All aye, motion carried.
