MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY CITY OF HOBART, LAKE COUNTY, INDIANA January 4, 2017 Call to Order/Pledge to the Flag: Mayor Snedecor called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: The following members were present: Mr. Lain, Mr. Ehrhardt, and Mayor Snedecor. Also present: C-T Longer and Admin. Asst. C. Govert. Absent: Attorney DeBonis. Reading of Minutes: Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to accept the minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 21, 2016 as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Correspondence: Report of 2016 Transfers and Encumbrances (End of Year): All Board members received the report and Mrs. Longer explained this is the follow-up to their Resolution 2016-08. Mr. Lain asked about the audit being conducted by State Board of Accounts. Mrs. Longer stated that they are doing the audit for 2014 and 2015, and are on schedule. They should wrap up in the middle of February. Approval of Register of Claims, 2016 End of year Claims, and Payroll Claims: Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt, seconded by Mr. Lain, to accept and sign the register of claims, 2016 end of year claims, and payroll claims as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Approval of Agenda: Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to approve the agenda as presented. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Unfinished Business: Continued: Request for Driveway Waiver: Andrew Degnan, re: 1256 S. Hobart Rd.: Mr. Degnan was not present. Discussion was held whether to continue or remove this item from the agenda so that Mr. Degnan can appear before the Board when he is ready to proceed. Motion by Mr. Ehrhardt, seconded by Mr. Lain, to continue this item until the January 18, 2017 Board of Works meeting. All aye, motion carried. (3-0) Mrs. Longer will contact Mr. Degnan. New Business: Review & Acceptance of Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statements: Mayor Snedecor and Deborah Longer: Motion by Mr. Lain, seconded by Mr. Ehrhardt, to accept the Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statements for Mayor Snedecor and Clerk-Treasurer Longer as presented. All aye, motion carried. (2-0) Mayor Snedecor abstained from vote. Announcements: Mark your calendars: A Joint Work Session with Council/Board of Public Works/Redevelopment Commission will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.in Council Chambers: re: Fiber Study Presentation. Mayor Snedecor asked if there was anyone who wished to address the Board and there was no response. Adjournment: Motion by Mr. Lain, to adjourn the meeting. All aye, motion carried.
