MEMORANDUM OF THE JOINT WORK SESSION BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, COMMON COUNCIL, and REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION, CITY OF HOBART, LAKE COUNTY, INDIANA January 18, 2017 Mayor Snedecor convened the work session in the Council Chambers at 5:05 p.m. The following Board/Commission members were present: Board of Public Works & Safety: Mr. Lain, Mr. Ehrhardt, Mayor Snedecor. Common Council: Mr. Huddlestun, Mr. Maggio, Ms. Wiley, Mr. Waldrop, Mr. Brezik, Mr. Vinzant Absent: Mr. Herzog Redevelopment Commission: Ms. Houck, Mr. Kelly, Ms. Plesac. Absent: Mr. Claussen, Mr. Donahue Also present: City Attorney DeBonis, Clerk-Treasurer Longer, Director of Development Denarie Kane, City Planner Sergio Mendoza, Police Chief Rick Zormier, Fire Chief Brian Kerr, Supt. of Public Works John Dubach, HSD President Bob Fulton, City Engineer Phil Gralik, Reporters for the Post-Tribune and The Times newspapers and other members of the public. Presenters: Tom Carroll, NITCO, Bart Bretsch, Yates Engineering Services, Inc., Ahna Dunn, NITCO Presenters provided an overview of the project including a fiber network analysis, the local market research including surveys done with residents and businesses, items to consider toward a suggested course of action and approximate costs to build a fiber network in Hobart. A booklet was provided to all Council, Board Members and Commissioners entitled the Hobart Fiber Optic Pre-Design Strategy. A brief question/answer period was held and follow-up questions may be directed to the presenters or specifically to Tom Carroll at NITCO: (219) 996-0226.
