HOLMDEL ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION Minutes – Regular Meeting Wednesday, July 9, 2025 David read the following at 7:00 p.m. OPENING STATEMENT: “I hereby announce, pursuant to Section 5 of the Open Public Meetings Act, that adequate notice of this meeting has been provided on January 10, 2025, to the Asbury Park Press and the Two River Times. Notice has also been posted in the entrance of Town Hall, filed in the Clerk’s Office, and posted on the Township’s website, www.holmdeltownship.com, all pursuant to Section 13 of the Open Public Meetings Act.” Roll Call Members Present: Karen Strickland, Chairperson David Wolff, Vice Chairperson Wes Fagan Jill Perez Anthony Salerno Gary Vanderham Absent: Ralph Blumenthal Randy Rauscher Janet Jackel Loretta Coscia, HEC Secretary Pledge of Allegiance Moment of Silence to Honor Military and Police Who Have Been Wounded or Killed in Action  Draft Meeting Minutes – June 11, 2025 – Motion made by Dave seconded by Jill to approve the minutes. Motion carried on voice vote by eligible members.  Regional Watershed Forum will be held on Thursday, July 24th at Bell Works in Holmdel’s conference room. The name of the Forum has been changed to the Northern Monmouth Watershed Alliance. The new website is https://monmouthwater.org/ The purpose of the meeting will be to identify the streams that we will be observing. We want to find out how many points our activity will bring to the stormwater permitting process.  The New Jersey State Development and Redevelopment Plan (SDRP) or State Plan – Cross-acceptance meeting on July 16th at 11:30 a.m. and if necessary, Monday, July 28th at 9:00 a.m. Karen forwarded the information on to HEC members.  Community Energy Planning Grant Meeting - Planning grant meeting will be held on July 17. HEC Meeting Minutes – July 9, 2025   Land Conservancy – ERI was approved by the Planning Board and is now part of the Holmdel Master Plan. All members of the HEC would like paper copies so they can bring them to meetings and refer to page numbers in comments on applications. Karen will ask for copies from Barbara. Demetri Orfanitopoulos, Zoning Board Chairperson asked for a copy after complimenting The Land Conservancy for their work. Wes believes members of the Planning Board would also benefit from having copies to bring to Planning Board meetings as well. HEC suggest making 30 copies to distribute to the members of the decision-making boards. One should go to the library as well. The HEC members plan to use and update the plan regularly.  Open Space Plan – ERI Karen will make inquiries.  Newsletter – next article due last week of July, first week of August – After discussion of various topics, decided on an article on the tree ordinance and its importance. A comment was made about how bad the lantern flies are. Also, the next set of newsletter articles could be to focus on the ERI. Articles could drill down on the maps and let people know the interesting environmental features that exist in Holmdel. Dave suggested the HEC needs its own logo. Members were asked to look into their creative networks and see if someone could create one.  Earth Day 2026 will be held on April 26, 2026 Adjournment There being no further business at 7:40 p.m., motion by Dave seconded by Wes to adjourn.
