MINUTES HOT SPRINGS ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE June 14, 2022, 2022 12:00 PM 111 Opera Street, Suite A 1. Roll Call of Committee Members Committee Members present: Dale Blackwelder, Nan Cameron, June Simmons, Kara Gunter, JoAnn Mangione, and Alix Stafford. Absent: Eli Vega Staff: Anthony Whittington, Kathleen Fason. 2. Approval of the Agenda Nan made a motion to approve the June 14, 2022 agenda. Eli seconded. Motion passed. 3. Approval of the Minutes Nan made a motion to approve the April 12, 2022 minutes. Kara seconded. Motion passed. 4. Introduction of Guests 5. BUSINESS: A. Tranquility Garden: discussed pending entryway design. Changes were once again suggested according to budgetary restrictions with cost of materials much higher now. Group agreed to meet at the location on Thursday, June 16 to make their final decision on design. Once entryway is installed a dedication will be held. B. Work on Call for Artist Form: Kara will work on the form and present at the July meeting. C. New City of Hot Springs Arts Website: Kathleen informed the group that Mary Zunick with Visit Hot Springs is currently working on a website that will identify all locations of art within the city. It will allow users to view a photo, learn the location, artist and other information on each piece. D. Baker’s Lion and Ballerina Update: Anthony announced that he had presented the two pieces to the City Manager for a decision on whether to purchase. He will inform the group when he knows. He asked about where they recommend placement of the two pieces. It was discussed and suggested that the new Tranquility Garden would be a nice location for them. E. Moving Lovers/Fighters Sculpture: decision has been tabled. Anthony will contact Derrick with the Majestic Park Ball Fields and see if the move is still considered necessary. F. Grants, Fundraising Suggestions: Kara discussed a grant she found that might be of assistance in funding for the Jean Wallace Wetlands Trailhead sculpture that we will be purchasing in the future. 6.
