BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL FEBRUARY 25, 2020-8:30 A.M. Roll call was answered by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe and Chairman Jim Dazey and Board Member Don Gura. Others present were: Scott Derby, Pat Howell, Jeremy McKinley, Rob Wiley, Scott Mosley, Katie Ritchie, Jim Pankop, Ryan Alwine and Cindy Marple. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes The minutes of the February 11, 2020 Board of Public Works and Safety meeting were presented for approval. Board member Don Gura made a motion to approve the minutes with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Petitions or Comments No petitions or comments were heard. Engineering Drake Road Reconstruction (Section 1) - Design exception approvals Engineering Administrator Scott Derby presented the Drake Road reconstruction of section one and gave a brief description on the design exceptions. Board member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Request to pay A&Z Engineering Engineering Administrator Scott Derby requested authorization to pay invoice 20-2014 to A&Z Engineering in the amount of $12,794.68 (local share $2,558.94). Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Fire Request to pay Cummins Sales and Service for Engine 11 Fire Chief Jeremy McKinley requested authorization to pay Cummins Sales in the amount of $4,911.99 for service to Engine 11. Board member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Request to pay Fire Service, Inc. Fire Chief Jeremy McKinley requested authorization to pay Fire Service, Inc. in the amount of $2,423.25. This was for an emergency repair on the leveling cylinder on the bucket for tower 10. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Police Request to pay In-Synch Systems Chief of Police Rob Wiley requested authorization to pay In-Synch Systems in the amount of $2,025.00. This is for the 2020 Maintenance fee from March 2020 through March 2021. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Request to hire part-time school crossing guard. Chief of Police Rob Wiley requests authorization to hire Diane Leighty as a part-time school crossing guard. This would make three full-time and two part-time crossing guards. Board member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. WWTP Superintendent Mark Shultz requested authorization to purchase two lift station control panels from Indiana Pump Works LLC. The panels would be used at the lift stations located on Miller and Harding Streets. The total cost for the two panels $16,500.00 and the monies would come from account 609 (capital improvement fund). Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes- 0 nays. Water The January Revenue/ Expense Report was presented for review. Motion to Adjourn Board Member Don Gura made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Chairman Jim Dazey adjourned the meeting at 8:46 A.M. _____________________________________ Kathren R.
