BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY COUNCIL CHAMBERS MAY 11, 2021-8:30 A.M. Roll call was answered by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe and Chairman Jim Dazey and Board Member Don Gura. Others present were: Scott Derby, Katie Ritchie, Ryan Alwine, Lance Waters, Matt Riehm, Mark Schultz, Jim Pankop, Jeremy McKinley, Scott Mosley, and Steve Garbacz- KPC. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes The minutes of the April 27, 2021 Board of Public Works and Safety meeting were presented for approval. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve the minutes with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. The minutes of the May 4, 2021 Special Board of Public Works and Safety meeting were presented for approval. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Petitions or Comments No petitions or comments were given. Clerk-Treasurer Request authorization to pay Eshelman Sand & Gravel Clerk Treasurer, Katie Ritchie, requested authorization to pay invoice 20975 ($14,950.00) and invoice 21037 (1,750.00) for a total of $16,700.00 to Eshelman Sand & Gravel. This is for the dirt from the ENSC Transportation site to the land located behind Fire Station 1 on Drake Road. The money to pay these invoices will come from Board of Works Contractual Account. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve both invoices with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Engineering Indiana Michigan Power Company Contracting Services Agreement Administrative Engineer Scott Derby presented the Indiana Michigan Power Company Contracting Services Agreement for approval. This contract is valid through December 31, 202. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Administrative Engineer Scott Derby announced the bid opening for the next level trails will be opened at the next Board of Works meeting. WWTP Authorization to Hire- Creech Superintendent Mark Schultz requested authorization to hire Norman Creech as an operator at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Mr. Creech will begin working on May 17, 2021 with a starting pay of $19.00 an hour based on his experience. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes- 0 nays. Superintendent Mark Schultz announced the bids/quotes that were tabled in April’s meeting will be on the next Board agenda. Motion to Adjourn Board Member Don Gura made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Chairman Jim Dazey adjourned the meeting at 8:37 A.M. _____________________________________ Kathren R.
