BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY COUNCIL CHAMBERS JANUARY 25, 2022-8:30 A.M. Roll call was answered by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Chairman Jim Dazey, and Board Member Don Gura. Others present were: Steve Garbacz- KPC News, Kristen Johnson, Wade Hale, Matt Riehm, Dawn McGahen, Lance Waters, Scott Mosley, Mark Schultz, Brian Strange, Cindy Marple, and Katie Ritchie. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes The minutes of the January 11, 2022 Board of Public Works and Safety meeting were presented for approval. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve the minutes with a second by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays. Petitions or Comments No petitions or comments were given. Mayor Architectural Contract from Martin-Riley The Architectural Contract from Martin-Riley was presented for review. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Authorization to Hire Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe requested authorization to hire a full time Building Code Enforcement Officer. Mayor Handshoe said that job descriptions would soon be coming for approval. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second by Chairman Jim Dazey. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Clerk-Treasurer Write Off Request Clerk Treasurer Katie Ritchie requested authorization to write off $3,285.19 from utility bill 35-00100.00 (Applebees) as they filed bankruptcy back in 2018. This includes balance and all late fees. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Engineering Drake Road Phase 1 Status Report was presented for review. Drake Road Phase 2 Status Report was presented for review. Water The December 2021 Revenue/Expense Report was presented for review. The Krueger Street Rehabilitation Project Water Superintendent Scott Mosley presented the agreement between the City of Kendallville and Dixon Engineering for professional services with the Krueger Street Water Tower Project in the amount of services fees of $25,000.00. Board Member Don Gura made a motion to approve with a second from Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays.
