BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
COUNCIL CHAMBERS
MARCH 15, 2022-8:30 A.M.
Roll call was answered by Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe and Chairman Jim Dazey. Board Member Don Gura was
absent.
Others present were: Joe McQueen- KPC News, Mark Schultz, Lance Waters, Scott Mosley, Kristen Johnson-
Main Street Manager, Jeremy McKinley, Dawn McGahen, and Cindy Marple.
Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
Minutes
The minutes of the February 22, 2022 Board of Public Works and Safety meeting were presented for approval.
Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe made a motion to approve the minutes with a second by Chairman Jim Dazey. The
motion passed 2 ayes-0 nays.
Petitions or Comments
Chairman Jim Dazey thanked everyone for coming since the original Board of Works meeting last week was
cancelled.
Mayor
Application for use of Public Facilities- Fairy, Gnome, and Troll Festival
Kristen Johnson submitted an application for use of public facilities for the Fairy, Gnome, and Troll Festival on
May 21, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. through 2:00 P.M. This will take place on Main Street between Mitchell & Rush
Streets & the pocket park. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe made a motion to approve with a second from Chairman
Jim Dazey. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays.
Application for use of Public Facilities- 10th Annual Stomp Out the Stigma 5K
Michael Steigmeyer submitted an application for use of public facilities for the 10th Annual Stomp Out the Stigma
5K on September 10, 2022 from 7:00 A.M. through 3:00 P.M. This will take place at Bixler Lake Park and Jansen
Pavilion. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe made a motion to approve with a second by Chairman Jim Dazey. The
motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays.
Engineering
Drake Road Phase 2- Design Invoice #11
Design Invoice #11 from A&Z Engineering in the amount of $12,389.41 was presented for approval. Mayor
SuzAnne Handshoe made a motion to approve with a second from Chairman Jim Dazey. The motion passed 2
ayes – 0 nays.
Drake Road Phase 1- RR Design & Engineering- Invoice #1
RR Design Invoice #1 from Pioneer Lines in the amount of $12,881.95 was presented for approval. Mayor
SuzAnne Handshoe made a motion to approve with a second from Chairman Jim Dazey. The motion passed 2
ayes – 0 nays.
Park
Request to Purchase Seasonal Clothing
Park Director Dawn McGahen requested a bulk order of summer seasonal clothing for the part time staff at the
Sports Complex and Park Department. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe made a motion to approve with a second from
Chairman Jim Dazey. The motion passed 2 ayes- 0 nays.
Motion to Adjourn
Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Chairman Jim Dazey adjourned the meeting at
8:37 A.M.
