BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY COUNCIL CHAMBERS JULY 23, 2024-8:30 A.M. Bid Opening for Inspiration Ministries Kendallville Supportive Graduate Housing 1. Schenkel Construction- $1,682,700.00, Alternate 1- $40,700.00 2. Shawnee Construction Engineering- $1,208,000.00, Alternate 1- $41,900.00 3. Hamilton Hunter Builders- $1,598,750.00, Alternate 1- N/A Roll call was answered at 8:33 A.M. by: Chairman Don Gura and Board Member Tara Streb. Mayor Lance Waters was absent. Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Amy Ballard, Kristen Johnson, Brian Strange, John Dixon, Scott Derby, Scott Mosley, Jeremy McKinley, Lisa Gulick, Cindy Marple, Matt Brinkman, Andy Foster, Don Harvey, Eric Tyler, and Sheryl Prentice. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. Minutes Board Member Tara Streb made a motion to approve the Board of Works minutes from the July 9, 2024 meeting with a second from Chairman Don Gura. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Petitions No petitions or comments were given. Mayor Application for Use of Public Facilities- Apple Tree Center Amy Ballard submitted an application for the use of public facilities at the Apple Tree Center on August 20, 2024 from 5:00 P.M- 8:00 P.M. This is for a food truck event inviting neighbors within the block on Mitchell Street from Riley to Sheridan Streets. Board Member Tara Streb made a motion to approve with a second from Chairman Don Gura. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Engineering Change Order #1- 2024 Crack Filling- Pavement Solutions/ Add On Administrative Engineer Scott Derby presented change order #1 from Pavement Solutions for the 2024 crack filling. The change order is a decrease of $4,963.55. Board Member Tara Streb made a motion to approve the change order with a second from Chairman Don Gura. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Change Order #1- 2024 Pavement Marking- The Airmarking Company/ Add On Administrative Engineer Scott Derby presented change order #1 from The Airmarking Company for the 2024 pavement markings project. The change order is an increase of $18,871.56. Board Member Tara Streb made a motion to approve with a second from Chairman Don Gura. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Police Request Approval of Promotion of Sergeant Position Chief of Police John Dixon requested authorization to promote SRO Sidney Shartzer to Sergeant. Sidney has successfully completed all her SRO certifications and is more than qualified for the position. Board Member Tara Streb made a motion to approve with a second from Chairman Don Gura. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Water The June Revenue/Expense Report was presented for review. Inclement Weather Gear Superintendent Scott Mosley requested authorization to purchase inclement weather gear for his department in the amount of $4,194.36. This purchase consists of vests, jackets, waders, and boots. Board Member Tara Streb made a motion to approve with a second from Chairman Don Gura. The motion passed 2 ayes – 0 nays. Motion to Adjourn Board Member Tara Streb made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Chairman Don Gura adjourned the meeting at 8:45 A.M. _____________________________________ Kathren R.
