The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday January 5, 2021 at 7:00 P.M.
Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Corey
Boese, Council Member Jim Dazey, Attorney Doug Atz, Council Member Steven Clouse, Council Member Amy
Ballard, and MYAC Member Darby Johnson.
Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Barb Bratt, Bob Combs, Todd Hanes, Angie Inman, Kaylynn Kennedy, Sarah
Kintz, Lukinda McGregor, Emily McKinley, Lea-Ann McGregor, James Pankop, Lance Waters, Dave Lange,
Chad McKinley, Joe Inman, Eric Kennedy, Trent McGregor, Casey Kintz, and Jeremy McKinley.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
MINUTES/ MEETING
Minutes from the December 15, 2020 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Jim
Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 5 ayes –
0 nays.
PETITIONS OR COMMENTS
No petitions or comments were given.
MAYOR
Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe led Chad McKinley and Joe Inman in their oath of office as Fire Captain, led Eric
Kennedy and Trent McGregor in their oath of office as Fire Lieutenant, and led Casey Kintz in his oath of office
as Fire Fighter.
The November Humane Society report was presented for review.
The Aviation minutes were presented for review.
Council Member Jim Dazey announced the following Council appointments:
Cemetery Board- Councilman Corey Boese
RDC- Lance Harman & Loren Allen
EDAC- Chris Desper, Chad Ihrie, & Councilwoman Amy Ballard
Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe announced the following Mayoral appointments:
Park Board- Dennis Nartker
Tree Commission- Gwen Christenson & Jim Nixon
RDC- Kristen Johnson
Alcohol Control Board- James Jarrett
Planning Commission- Rosie Miller
Council Committees will stand from last year:
BOW- Councilman Jim Dazey, Chairman Don Gura, & Mayor W. SuzAnne Handshoe
City Buildings- Councilman Regan Ford- Chairman & Councilman Boese
Law and Ordinance- Councilman Jim Dazey- Chairman & Councilman Steven Clouse
Finance- Councilman Jim Dazey- Chairman & Councilwoman Amy Ballard
Streets and Alleys- Councilman Regan Ford- Chairman & Councilman Steven Clouse
CLERK TREASURER
Clerk-Treasurer Katie Ritchie told the Council that she received the 1782 notice from the DLGF on 12/29/2020
and everything was approved with no amounts cut.
OLD BUSINESS
General Ordinance #1231/ Zoning- 2nd Reading
Council Member Jim Dazey requested the reading of General Ordinance #1231/ Zoning in title and address only.
Attorney Doug Atz read General Ordinance #1231 in title and address only. Council Member Jim Dazey made a
motion to approve with a second from Council Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 5 ayes – 0 nays.
ALLOWENCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS
Council Member Jim Dazey presented bills and claim numbers 67353 through 67450 for $1,232,928.33 for
approval. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council
Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 5 ayes-0 nays.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe adjourned the
meeting at 7:16 P.M.
