COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL MARCH 16, 2021 -7:00 P.M. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe assisted new Council Member Shari Targgart in conducting her oath of office as Council Member. The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday March 16, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Shari Targgart, Council Member Amy Ballard, and MYAC Member Darby Johnson. Council Member Corey Boese and Council Member Jim Dazey were absent. Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Scott Derby, Lance & April Waters, Jeremy McKinley, John Dixon, Nate Stahl, Doug Davis, Rob & Stacey Kline, Joe Inman, Justin Beall, Ned, Doris, & Stephen Goins, and Andy Barrand- KPC. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. MINUTES/ MEETING Minutes from the March 2, 2021 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Regan Ford made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays. PETITIONS OR COMMENTS No petitions or comments were given. MAYOR Firefighter of the Year Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe and Fire Chief Jeremy McKinley presented the Firefighter of the Year award to Ned Goins. Police Officer of the Year Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe and Chief of Police Lance Waters presented the Police Officer of the Year award to Sergeant Justin Beall. The February Aviation Minutes were presented for review. The monthly Humane Shelter Report was presented for review. POLICE The February Police Report was presented for review. NEW BUSINESS General Ordinance #1233/ Zoning Regulations- East Pointe Condominiums- 1st Reading Council Member Regan Ford read General Ordinance #1233/ Zoning Regulations in title only. Council Member Regan Ford made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays. General Ordinance #1234/ Zoning Regulations- North Pointe Condominiums- 1st Reading Council Member Regan Ford read General Ordinance #1234/ Zoning Regulations in title only. Council Member Regan Ford made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays. ALLOWENCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS Council Member Amy Ballard presented bills and claim numbers 67886 through 68011 for $983,859.12 for approval. Council Member Amy Ballard made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 3 ayes-0 nays.
