COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL JUNE 15, 2021 -7:00 P.M. The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday June 15, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Corey Boese, Council Member Jim Dazey, Attorney Doug Atz, and Council Member Amy Ballard. MYAC Member Darby Johnson was absent. Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Patrice Abbee, Jerry & Diann Steinbarger, Gary Gatman- EDC, Kyle Blackburn & Family, Drew Wellborn- Noble County Spec Building, Dawn McGahen, Mark Schultz, Lance Waters, Scott Derby, and Jeremy McKinley. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. MINUTES/ MEETING Minutes from the June 1, 2021 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 5 ayes – 0 nays. PETITIONS OR COMMENTS Council Member Amy Ballard wished MYAC Member Darby Johnson good luck as she is in Zionsville competing for Miss. Indiana Outstanding Teen. MAYOR Resolution #1079/ Tax Abatement- Noble County Spec Building LLC. Council Member Jim Dazey requested the reading of Resolution #1079/ Tax Abatement in its entirety. Attorney Doug Atz read Resolution #1079 in its entirety. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 5 ayes – 0 nays. MYAC President Kyle Blackburn presented the State of the Youth Address. Kyle gave a brief description of the happenings that have taken place in MYAC since 2019 and thanked Mayor Handshoe for her time and dedication to the MYAC program. FIRE The April & May Report was presented for review. POLICE The May Police Report was presented for review. OLD BUSINESS General Ordinance #1237/ Longevity Pay- 3rd Reading Council Member Jim Dazey requested the reading of General Ordinance #1237/ Longevity Pay in title only. Attorney Doug Atz read General Ordinance #1237 in title only. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 5 ayes – 0 nays. NEW BUSINESS General Ordinance #1236/ Sewers and Sewage Disposal – 1st Reading Council Member Jim Dazey requested the reading of General Ordinance #1236/ Sewers and Sewage Disposal in title only. Attorney Doug Atz read General Ordinance #1236 in title only. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 5 ayes – 0 nays. ALLOWENCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS Council Member Jim Dazey presented bills and claim numbers 68521 through 68640 for $1,295,661.60 for approval. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 5 ayes-0 nays. MOTION TO ADJOURN Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe adjourned the meeting at 7:20 P.M. ________________________________________________ Kathren R.
