JANUARY 4, 2022 -7:00 P.M.
The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 7:00 P.M.
Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Corey
Boese, Council Member Jim Dazey, Attorney Jacob Atz filling in for City Attorney Doug Atz, Council Member
Shari Targgart, Council Member Amy Ballard, and MYAC Member Ryan Norden.
Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Lance Waters, Jeremy McKinley, Randy Handshoe, Dawn McGahen, Kody
Forker, Joe Inman, and Robert Isaacs.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
MINUTES/ MEETING
Minutes from the December 21, 2021 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Jim
Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 5 ayes – 0
nays.
PETITIONS OR COMMENTS
No petitions or comments were given.
MAYOR
Oath of Office Firefighter Marks
Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe conducted Connor Marks in his oath of office as Firefighter.
The monthly Humane Shelter Report was presented for review.
Appointments
Mayor: B.O.W.- James Dazey- Chairman, Don Gura- Board Member, and Mayor Handshoe
Law and Ordinance- James Dazey- Chairman and Regan Ford- Board Member
Finance Committee- James Dazey- Chairman and Amy Ballard- Board Member
Streets and Alleys- Regan Ford- Chairman and Shari Targgart- Board Member
City Building- Regan Ford- Chairman and Corey Boese- Board Member
Council: Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to appoint Tara Streb and Loren Allen to the RDC Board
with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 5 ayes – 0 nays.
Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to appoint Corey Boese to the Cemetery Board with a second from
Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 5 ayes- 0 nays.
Council Member Jim Dazey said he would serve as Council President if the rest of the Board would like him to.
Council Member Shari Targgart made a motion to approve Jim Dazey as Council President with a second from
Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 5 ayes – 0 nays.
PARK
The December 13, 2021 minutes were presented for review.
ALLOWENCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS
Council President Jim Dazey presented bills and claim numbers 70181 through 70248 for $851,704.21 for
approval. Council President Jim Dazey made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council
Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 5 ayes-0 nays.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Council President Jim Dazey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe adjourned the
meeting at 7:08 P.M.
