COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL JANUARY 18, 2022 -7:00 P.M. The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday January 18, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Corey Boese, Council Member Jim Dazey, Attorney Jacob Atz filling in for City Attorney Doug Atz, and Council Member Amy Ballard. Council Member Shari Targgart and MYAC Member Ryan Norden were absent. Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Lance Waters, Jeremy McKinley, Scott Derby, Lucas Pant, Josh Desormeaux, Bob Marshall, Nate Stahl, Dawn McGahen, Chris Jansen-BSA, Ryan Myers- BSA, Colton Ihrie-BSA, Easten Cole- BSA, and T.J. Knox-BSA. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. MINUTES/ MEETING Minutes from the January 4, 2022 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays. PETITIONS OR COMMENTS Fire Chief Jeremy McKinley approached the Board and told them that last year’s goal of getting a county wide weather alert plan is now in function. Chief McKinley stated that the 911 communication centers can now active all outside warning devices in all communities in Noble County Indiana. Colton Ihrie from Boy Scouts of America approached the Board and announced their group was here to observe City Government in action. MAYOR Oath of Office- Matthew Gillision Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe led Police Officer Matthew Gillison in his oath of office as Sergeant. KRI Presentation- Member, Bob Marshall, gave a presentation on the progress of the KRI from 2021 and goals for the 2022 year. Appointments- Mayor Handshoe appointed Roger Thon to the Aviation Commission and Tracy Tipton to the Park Board. CLERK-TREASURER Resolution #1088/ Interlocal Fire Truck Agreement Council Member Jim Dazey requested the reading of Resolution #1088 in its entirety. Attorney Jacob Atz read Resolution #1088 in its entirety. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays. FIRE The December 2021 Fire Report was presented for review. The 2021 Year End Report was presented for review. PARK The January 10, 2022 minutes were presented for review. POLICE The November Police Report was presented for review. ALLOWENCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS Council President Jim Dazey presented bills and claim numbers 70249 through 70387 for $1,673,231.90 for approval. Council President Jim Dazey made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 4 ayes-0 nays. MOTION TO ADJOURN Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe adjourned the meeting at 7:47 P.M. ________________________________________________ Kathren R.
