The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday March 1, 2021 at 7:00 P.M.
Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Jim
Dazey, Attorney Jacob Atz, Council Member Shari Targgart, Council Member Amy Ballard, and MYAC Member
Ryan Norden. Council Member Corey Boese was absent.
Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Lance & April Waters, Nate Stahl, Justin Beall, Sidney Shartzer, Stephanie
Herkel, John Dixon, Angela Handshoe, Barb & Tracy Spriggs, Dana Nagel, Bill & Delores Forbes, Scott Derby,
Jeremy McKinley, Trent McGregor & Family, and Doug Davis.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
MINUTES/ MEETING
Minutes from the February 15, 2022 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Jim
Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 4 ayes
– 0 nays.
PETITIONS OR COMMENTS
No petitions or comments were given.
MAYOR
Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe presented Trent McGregor with a Firefighter of the Year award.
Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe presented Angela Handshoe with a Police Officer of the Year award.
Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe read the Severe Weather Proclamation declaring March 13-19, 2022 as Severe
Weather Week.
POLICE
The 2021Annual Police Report was presented for review.
The Building Code Enforcement Officer job description was presented for review.
OLD BUSINESS
Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to suspend the rules and allow second and third readings of General
Ordinance #1241, General Ordinance #1242, and Special Ordinance #1577 with a second from Council Member
Regan Ford. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays.
General Ordinance #1241/ Zoning- 2nd Reading
Council Member Jim Dazey requested the reading of General Ordinance #1241 in its entirety. Attorney Jacob Atz
read General Ordinance #1241 its entirety. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second
from Council Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays.

ALLOWENCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS
Council Member Jim Dazey presented bills and claim numbers 70590 through 70674 for $534,581.71 for
approval. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council
Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 4 ayes-0 nays.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe adjourned the
meeting at 7:26 P.M.
