COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL JULY 19, 2022 -7:00 P.M. The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday July 19, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Corey Boese, Attorney Doug Atz, and Council Member Shari Targgart. Council Members Jim Dazey and Amy Ballard were absent. Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Lance Waters, Brian Strange, Shannon McLeod, Jeremy McKinley, Jack Guthrie, Charles & Jackie Lehner, Bill & Sharon Mock, Gary & Ellen Smith, JuneDuchmig, Dave Hamilton, Larry & Marilyn Danner, Abdulrab Ahmed Alesaei, and Chris & Elizabeth Pangborn, PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. MINUTES/ MEETING Minutes from the July 5, 2022 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Regan Ford made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays. PETITIONS OR COMMENTS Jack Guthrie, from the 1500 Block of South Main Street, approached Council with concerns of the sale of the Hickory Creek Nursing Home facility that is located in his neighborhood. Mr. Guthrie asked Council multiple questions regarding who possibly might be purchasing it and the purpose of the building. Mayor Handshoe assured the concerned group that if any rezoning would have to be done that they would be notified and gave them the procedures of the rezoning process. MAYOR Resolution #1094/ Application Submission Main Street Local Match Commitment Council Member Regan Ford requested the reading of Resolution #1094 in its entirety. Resolution #1095/ Amending Slum/Blight Resolution #1020 Council Member Regan Ford requested the reading of Resolution #1095 in its entirety. Attorney Doug Atz read Resolution #1095 in its entirety. Council Member Regan Ford made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays. ENGINEERING The June Solar Field Report was presented for review. FIRE The June Fire Report was presented for review. POLICE Resolution #1093/ Transfer of K9 Transport Divider- Lagrange County Council Member Regan Ford requested the reading of Resolution #1093 in its entirety. Attorney Doug Atz read Resolution #1093 in its entirety. Council Member Regan Ford made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays. The June Police Report was presented for review. ALLOWENCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS Council Member Council Member Regan Ford presented bills and claim numbers 71557 through 71699 for $935,597.39 for approval. Council Member Regan Ford made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 3 ayes-0 nays.
