COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL OCTOBER 4, 2022 -7:00 P.M. The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 7:00 P.M. Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Corey Boese, Council Member Jim Dazey, Attorney Doug Atz, and Council Member Shari Targgart. Council Member Amy Ballard was absent. Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Lance Waters, Frank Walkup, Brian Strange, Doug Davis, Matt Gillison, Josh Desormeaux, Sharon Montoya, John Dixon, Dawn McGahen, Scott Derby, Ashlyn & Lucas Pant, Jeremy McKinley, Sidney Shartzer, Chase Cleckner, Carla Lowe, Dana Plattner, and Brandon Cox. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. MINUTES/ MEETING Minutes from the September 20, 2022 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays. PETITIONS OR COMMENTS Chief of Police Lance Waters publically thanked all the department heads that helped during Apple Festival for a smooth transition. MAYOR Resolution 1098/ Tax Abatement- 101 N. Main Street Council Member Jim Dazey requested the reading of Resolution 1098 in its entirety. Attorney Doug Atz read Resolution 1098 in its entirety. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays. Resolution 1099/ Tax Abatement- 103 N. Main Street Council Member Jim Dazey requested the reading of Resolution 1099 in its entirety. Attorney Doug Atz read Resolution 1099 in its entirety. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe declared October 9th-15th, 2022 Fire Prevention Week. ENGINEERING U.S. 6 Lane Alignment Safety Improvement Indot District Traffic Engineer, Dana Plattner, gave a brief presentation to Council on the new lane configuration on State Road 6 that will be taking place after construction. The configuration will go from a four lane highway to three through town. OLD BUSINESS Special Ordinance #1580/ 2023 Budget- 3rd Reading Council Member Jim Dazey requested the reading of Special Ordinance 1580 in title only. ALLOWENCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS Council Member Council Member Jim Dazey presented bills and claim numbers 72232 through 72341 for $631,187.29 for approval. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 4 ayes-0 nays.
