JANUARY 17, 2023 -7:00 P.M.
The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday January 17, 2023 at 7:00 P.M.
Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Corey
Boese, Council Member Jim Dazey, Attorney Jacob Atz, Council Member Shari Targgart, Council Member Amy
Ballard, and MYAC Member T.J. Knox.
Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Lance Waters, Brett Slone, Scott Derby, Sharon Montoya, Tara Streb, Jo
Knox, Kristen Johnson, Steve Garbacz- KPC, and Joe Inman.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
MINUTES/ MEETING
Minutes from the January 3, 2023 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Jim
Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 5 ayes –
0 nays.
PETITIONS OR COMMENTS
No petitions or comments were given.
MAYOR
EDAC Request
Council President Jim Dazey made a motion to take the EDAC’s request to form a sub-committee to law and
ordinance with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 5 ayes – 0 nays.
Historic Downtown Kendallville 2022 Annual Report
Kristen Johnson gave a brief presentation on the 2022 annual report for Historic Downtown Kendallville.
ENGINEERING
The December 2022 McCray Solar Report was presented for review.
FIRE
The December 2022 Fire Report was presented for review.
PARK
The January 9, 2023 Park Board minutes were presented for review.
POLICE
The December 2022 Police Report was presented for review.
ALLOWENCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS
Council Member Jim Dazey presented bills and claim numbers 73024 through 73163 for $3,573,109.73 for
approval. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council
Member Amy Ballard. Clerk Treasurer Katie Ritchie gave a brief explanation as to why the claim amount was so
high. The motion passed 5 ayes-0 nays.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe adjourned the
meeting at 7:21 P.M.
