COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL JUNE 6, 2023 -7:00 P.M. The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday June 6, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Corey Boese, Attorney Jacob Atz, Council Member Jim Dazey, Council Member Amy Ballard, and MYAC Member TJ Knox. Council Member Shari Targgart was absent. Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Lance & April Waters, Scott Derby, John Dixon, Matt Fought, Tara Streb, Phil Fought, Jordan Fought, Kathy Fought, Jo Knox, Brad Knepper, Amanda Knepper, Brayden Knepper, Sharon Montoya, Jen Fought, Kim Fought, Caleb Fought, Charlotte Fought, Emma Fought, Lily Fought, Sophia Fought, Jeannie Odell, Joyce Anthony, Duke Beard, Jocelyn Beard, and Elenor Beard. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. MINUTES/ MEETING Minutes from the May 16, 2023 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council President Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays. PETITIONS OR COMMENTS No petitions or comments were given. MAYOR Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe swore in Jordan Fought as Patrolman for the City of Kendallville. Resolution #1108/ Tax Abatement- Hendrickson Council President Jim Dazey requested the reading of Resolution #1108 in its entirety. Attorney Doug Atz read resolution 1108 in its entirety. Council President Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays. Recognition of Kendallville 160th- Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe read that Kendallville celebrated its 160th year as a city this week and there would be a 160th Anniversary celebration June 24, 2023 at the Pocket Park from 2:00- 4:00 P.M. CLERK 2023 Title VI Implementation Plan Clerk Treasurer, Katie Ritchie, presented the 2023 Title VI Implementation Plan that was prepared for the City by JPR. Council President Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays. ALLOWANCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS Council President Jim Dazey presented bills and claim numbers 73974 through 74135 for $2,622,935.16 for approval. Council President Jim Dazey made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council Member Amy Ballard. Clerk Treasurer Katie Ritchie explained to the audience that the amount was so large due to a number of big ticket items purchased and projects that were paid for. The motion passed 4 ayes-0 nays. MOTION TO ADJOURN Council President Jim Dazey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe adjourned the meeting at 7:12 P.M. ________________________________________ Kathren R.
