COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL
July 5, 2023, -7:00 P.M.
The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Wednesday July 5, 2023 at 7:00 P.M.
Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Council Member Corey
Boese, Council Member Jim Dazey, Attorney Doug Atz, Council Member Amy Ballard. Council Member Shari
Targgart and MYAC Member TJ Knox were absent.
Others present were: Brandy Roberts, Jeremy McKinley, Lance and April Waters, Scott Derby, Kristin Johnson,
Tara Streb, Matt Getts-KPC Media, and Ryan Chasey-Housing Resource Hub.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
MINUTES/ MEETING
Minutes from the June 20, 2023 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Jim
Dazey asked for a correction to be made to change from Attorney Jacob Atz to Attorney Doug Atz as he was the
one who was present. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council
Member Regan Ford. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays.
PETITIONS OR COMMENTS
Chief Lance Waters wanted to thank everyone for the collaborative efforts of everyone involved to help make the
Patriotic Pops/Fourth of July Celebration successful this year.
MAYOR
Housing Hub Presentation
Kristen Johnson presented a proposal for partnering with Housing Resource Hub to add 2nd floor housing in
existing buildings in downtown Kendallville. Kristin Johnson asked if it would be possible for the City to
contribute $ 50,000.00 towards the development of this housing using funds from the CDBG Funds.
Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Regan Ford. The
motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays.
PARK
The June 12, 2023 Park Minutes were presented for review.
ALLOWANCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS
Council Member Jim Dazey presented bills and claim numbers 74251 through 74346 for $654,289.78 for
approval. Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council
Member Amy Ballard. The motion passed 4 ayes-0 nays.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Council Member Jim Dazey made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe adjourned the
meeting at 7:30 P.M.
