COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL JULY 18, 2023 -7:00 P.M. The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session Tuesday July 18, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. Roll call was answered by: Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe, Council Member Regan Ford, Attorney Doug Atz, Council Member Shari Targgart, and Council Member Amy Ballard. Council President Jim Dazey was absent. Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Lt. John Dixon, Brian Strange, Patrick Howell, Brad Targgart, Matt Getts- KPC, and Jeremy McKinley. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. MINUTES/ MEETING Minutes from the July 5, 2023 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Regan Ford made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Corey Boese. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays. PETITIONS OR COMMENTS Council Member Shari Targgart shared that she recently spoke with East Noble School Corporation Food Director, Roger Urich, and he told her that last month ENSC passed out 18,122 meals for the month of June to children in the corporation area via nine feeding locations. Urich also told Council Member Targgart that the most they had ever done previously was 3,600 in a month in years past. MAYOR The June 2023 Aviation minutes were presented for review. FIRE The June 2023 Fire Report was presented for review. PARK Mayor Handshoe thanked all KPD Officers for their professional and diligent service during the drowning incident that took place at Bixler Lake on Saturday, July 15, 2023. POLICE The June 2023 Police Report was presented for review. ALLOWANCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS Council Member Amy Ballard presented bills and claim numbers 74347 through 74441 for $1,045,041.93 for approval. Council Member Amy Ballard made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 4 ayes-0 nays. MOTION TO ADJOURN Council Member Amy Ballard made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe adjourned the meeting at 7:07 P.M. ________________________________________ Kathren R.
