COMMON COUNCIL COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL MAY 8, 2024 -7:00 P.M. The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session May 8, 2024 at 7:00 P.M. Roll call was answered by: Mayor Lance Waters, Council Member Amy Ballard, Council Member Shari Targgart, Attorney Jacob Atz, and Council Member Christopher McCreery. Council Member Corey Boese, Council Member Tara Streb, and MYAC Member Melissa Smith were absent. Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Matt Getts- KPC, John Dixon, Robert Combs, and Sharon Montoya. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance. MINUTES/ MEETING Minutes from the April 16, 2024 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Amy Ballard made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays. PETITIONS OR COMMENTS Mayor Lance Waters thanked the Fire and Street Departments for their great effort in cleaning up the roads from the storm that happened on Tuesday May 7, 2024. MAYOR City Wide Garage Sales The Kendallville Chamber requested two free garage sale weekends for the City of Kendallville. The dates of the sales would be from Thursday May 23rd - Monday May 27th and Thursday August 29th- Monday September 2nd. Residents could choose which three consecutive days they would like to participate and it would not count toward the four garage sale per year limit. Council Member Amy Ballard made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Christopher McCreery. Council Member McCreery asked Sharon Montoya how long residents had to sign up to be on the map for the sales and Montoya told him they needed to be signed up a week before. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays. ENGINEERING The April 2024 McCray Solar Report was presented for review. PARK The April 8, 2024 Park Board minutes were presented for review. POLICE The March 2024 Police Report was presented for review. ALLOWANCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS Council Member Amy Ballard presented bills and claim numbers 76449 through 76618 for $1,370,249.86 for approval. Council Member Amy Ballard made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council Member Chris McCreery. The motion passed 3 ayes-0 nays. MOTION TO ADJOURN Council Member Shari Targgart made a motion to adjourn the meeting with a second from Council Member Amy Ballard.
