COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL
NOVEMBER 19, 2024 -7:00 P.M.
The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session November 19, 2024 at 7:00 P.M.
Roll call was answered by: Mayor Lance Waters, Council Member Shari Targgart, Council Member Corey Boese,
Attorney Jacob Atz, Council Member Tara Streb, and Council Member Christopher McCreery. Council Member
Amy Ballard was absent.
Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Scott Derby, Matt Getts- KPC, John Dixon, April Waters, Jordan Fought,
Patrick Howell, Brian Strange, Kevin Pegan, Jeremy McKinley, Lucas Pant, and Shane, Lindsay, and Avery Hurt.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
MINUTES/ MEETING
Minutes from the November 6, 2024 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member
Corey Boese made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Christopher McCreery. Mayor
Lance Waters mentioned the date on the top of the minutes was for October 6th instead of November 6th. Everyone
agreed to approve the changes. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays.
PETITIONS OR COMMENTS
No petitions or comments were given.
MAYOR
Swearing in Officer Hurt
Mayor Lance Waters swore in Patrol Officer Shane Hurt. Officer Hurt was previously sworn in at the prior Board
of Works meeting as that was his first day on the job however his family was not able to attend.
FIRE
The October 2024 Fire Report was presented for review.
OLD BUSINESS
Special Ordinance #1594/ 2025 Elected Official Salary Ordinance- 3rd Reading
Council Member Corey Boese requested the reading of Special Ordinance #1594 in title only. Attorney Jacob Atz
read Special Ordinance #1594 in title only. Council Member Corey Boese made a motion to approve with a
second from Council Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays.
NEW BUSINESS
Special Ordinance #1595/ Use of Credit Cards- 1st Reading
Council Member Corey Boese requested the reading of Special Ordinance #1595 in title only. Attorney Jacob Atz
read Special Ordinance #1595 in title only. Council Member Corey Boese made a motion to approve with a
second from Council Member Tara Streb. Mayor Lance Waters and Clerk Treasurer Katie Ritchie told the
Council how the current procedures are. The motion passed 4 ayes – 0 nays.
ALLOWANCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS
Council Member Tara Streb presented bills and claim numbers 78037 through 78128 for $825,651.10 for
approval. Council Member Tara Streb made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by Council
Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 4 ayes-0 nays.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Council Member Corey Boese made a motion to adjourn the meeting with a second from Council Member Shari
Targgart. Mayor Lance Waters adjourned the meeting at 7:12 P.M.
