COUNCIL CHAMBERS-CITY HALL
FEBRUARY 18, 2025 -7:00 P.M.
The Common Council of the City of Kendallville met in regular session February 18, 2025 at 7:00 P.M.
Roll call was answered by: Council Member Amy Ballard, Council Member Corey Boese, Council Member Shari
Targgart, Attorney Jacob Atz, and Council Member Christopher McCreery. Mayor Lance Waters, Council
Member Tara Streb, and MYAC Member Kingston Linthicum were absent.
Others present were: Katie Ritchie, Scott Derby, Matt Getts- KPC News, Jordan Fought, Jeremy McKinley, Trent
McGregor, Dakota Dellahan, and Jim Nixon.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance.
MINUTES/ MEETING
Minutes from the February 4, 2025 Common Council meeting were presented for review. Council Member Shari
Targgart made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Christopher McCreery. The motion
passed 3 ayes – 0 nays.
PETITIONS OR COMMENTS
No petitions or comments were given.
CLERK
Request to Write Off Old Outstanding Checks
Clerk Treasurer Katie Ritchie requested authorization to write off checks from the 2022 year totaling $5,283.59.
Council Member Corey Boese made a motion to approve with a second from Council Member Christopher
McCreery. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays.
FIRE
The 2024 Year End Fire Report was presented for review.
PARK
The February 10, 2025 minutes were presented for review.
POLICE
The January 2025 Police Report was presented for review.
NEW BUSINESS
General Ordinance #1273/ Amending Fire Protection and Prevention – 1st Reading
Council Member Corey Boese requested the reading of General Ordinance #1273 in title only. Attorney Jacob Atz
read General Ordinance #1273 in title only. Fire Lieutenant Trent McGregor approached the Board and informed
them of the changes being asked for in the ordinance. Council Member Corey Boese made a motion to approve
with a second from Council Member Shari Targgart. The motion passed 3 ayes – 0 nays.
ALLOWANCE OF BILLS AND CLAIMS
Council Member Shari Targgart presented bills and claim numbers 78654 through 78740 for $1,636,644.45 for
approval. Council Member Shari Targgart made a motion to approve the bills and claims with a second by
Council Member Christopher McCreery. Council Member Christopher McCreery asked a series of questions
about the report including purchases, vendor’s names, and layout. Clerk Treasurer Katie Ritchie said the report
could not be changed because of how the vendors have to be entered into the system regarding their w9’s. The
motion passed 3 ayes-0 nays.
MOTION TO ADJOURN
Council Member Corey Boese made a motion to adjourn the meeting with a second from Council Member Shari
Targgart. Council Member Amy Ballard adjourned the meeting at 7:15 P.M.
