Village of Kohler Finance Committee Meeting October 14, 2024 Chairperson John Ewert called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call was taken: John Ewert, Michael Wandschneider and Kelly Kasten were present. Staff members present: Shawn Splivalo and Laurie Lindow. Public Comment – None. Approval of Meeting Minutes from September 9, 2024 – Motion by John Ewert, second by Michael Wandschneider to approve the meeting minutes from September 9, 2024. Motion carried. Business 1. Review and approve September claims list – Motion by John Ewert, second by Michael Wandschneider to approve the September claims list. Motion carried. 2. Review and recommend: a. September Revenue & Expense reports, bank reconciliations and journal entries – Motion by John Ewert, second by Michael Wandschneider to recommend the Village Board approve the September Revenue & Expense reports, bank reconciliations and journal entries. Motion carried. b. Police Department Update – Todd Reinemann has submitted a letter of intent to retire effective January 3, 2025. Jacob Porter is on the stand-by list for Police Academy and currently working part-time as a Community Service Officer. Field training hours can be flexible if work experience is documented for Jacob. Chad Gross is attending Command College and his class project will be a study on body cameras. We currently do not utilize body cameras and are not handicapped by not having them, however we are one of few departments that don’t have them. The squad cars are equipped with cameras. Equipping the officers with body cameras will be proposed in the 2026 capital budget and will include additional staffing, subscription for on-going services and data space required to store seven years of records. Capital Outlay for 2025 includes two long guns and radios to be compatible with the new county radio system.
