Finance Committee

Village of Kohler Finance Committee Meeting November 11, 2024 Chairperson John Ewert called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call was taken: John Ewert and Mike Wandschneider were present. Kelly Kasten was absent. Staff members present: Shawn Splivalo and Cindi Gamb. Public Comment – none. Approval of Meeting Minutes from October 14, 2024 – Motion by John Ewert, second by Mike Wandschneider to approve the meeting minutes from October 14, 2024. Motion carried. Business 1. Review and Approve October Claims List – Motion by Mike Wandschneider, second by John Ewert to approve the October Claims list. Motion carried. 2. Review and Recommend: a. Attendance at Law Enforcement Preparatory Academy for new recruit - all costs will be reimbursed by Department of Justice except wages and benefits. If recruit is not successful, there is no reimbursement. Motion by John Ewert, second by Mike Wandschneider to recommend the Village Board authorize attendance at the Law Enforcement Preparatory Academy for new recruit. Motion carried. b. Lowering speed limit on Woodland Road to 25 mph from Greenfield Drive to County Trunk O – this is a recommendation from the Property Committee. The Police Department conducted a speed study on Woodland Road, no issues were found. Discussed installing stop signs at the intersection of Woodland Road and Woodlake Road. Motion by Mike Wandschneider, second by John Ewert to recommend the Village Board retain the 35 mph speed limit on Woodland Road from Greenfield Drive to Country Trunk O, and install a stop sign north/south bound on Woodland Road at Woodlake Road. Motion carried. c. October Revenue & Expense reports, bank reconciliations and journal entries – Motion by John Ewert, second by Mike Wandschneider to recommend the Village Board approve the October Revenue & Expense reports, bank reconciliations and journal entries. Motion carried. d. Revisions to Village of Kohler Employee Handbook – Motion by John Ewert, second by Mike Wandschneider to approve the revisions to the Village of Kohler Employee Handbook. Motion carried.  e. Police Department Update – Shawn is drafting an event Ordinance. He is also looking into having a speaker come to discuss senior citizen fraud.
