Village of Kohler Joint Planning Commission and Village Board Meeting August 7, 2025 Chairperson Thomas Schnettler called the Joint Planning Commission and Village Board meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Roll call was taken: Planning Commission members present: Tom Schnettler, Lee Gumm, Paul Bonack, Thomas Kramer and Mike Wandschneider. Jay Hoekstra and Lori Noonan were absent. Village Board members present: Tom Schnettler, Michael Wandschneider, Kelly Kasten, Tracy Lyons and Laurie Lindow. John Ewert and Brett Edgerle were absent. Village Attorney Mike Bauer and staff member Cindi Gamb were also present. Public comment – none. Approval of Planning Commission Meeting Minutes from July 2, 2025 – Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by Mike Wandschneider to approve the meeting minutes from July 7, 2025. Motion carried. Business 1. Presentation by Kohler Co. on Blackwolf Run Golf Course Expansion – Dirk Willis from Kohler Co. presented the plans for a 14-hole reversable course west of the Meadows Course. No carts will be allowed, walking only. Construction will begin in the fall of 2025 and target opening is summer of 2027. Access to the new course will be through the current entrance at Blackwolf Run. 2. Request from Spirit of Halloween for a Temporary Sign at Deer Trace - Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by Thomas Kramer to deny the request from Spirit of Halloween for a temporary sign at Deer Trace for these reasons: Village Police Department and Department of Public Works are having issues with the complex; the Village is receiving complaints about the properties; stop signs are missing; pot holes in the parking lot are not being repaired; buildings are in need of paint. The Village has contacted the owners, but no response has been received. Motion failed. Motion by Tom Schnettler, second by Mike Wandschneider to approve the temporary sign for the Spirit of Halloween at Deer Trace contingent upon receiving an action plan for resolving the issues listed above from the property owners within 45-days. The sign cannot be hung up until the confirmation is received from the property owners. Motion carried. 3. Request from Zacharie Chynoweth, 917 Woodland Road, for a Building Permit for a Garage Addition – Motion by Mike Wandschneider, second by Tom  Schnettler to approve the request from Zacharie Chynoweth, 917 Woodland Road, for a building permit for a garage addition. Motion carried. 4. Request from Ted and Maureen Steffens for a Building Permit for a New Home on Lot 33 in The Clearings Subdivision – Motion by Thomas Kramer, second by Lee Gumm to approve the request from Ted and Maureen Steffens for a building permit for a new home on Lot 33 in The Clearings Subdivision.
