Village of Kohler Special Property Committee Meeting May 19, 2025 Chairperson Michael Wandschneider called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m. Roll call was taken: Michael Wandschneider, Brett Edgerle and Kelly Kasten were present. Staff members present: Mike Kitzerow and Cindi Gamb. Public Comment – none. Business 1. Review Village Attorney Mike Bauer's Response Regarding Request to Replace Swimming Pool Diving Board – reopen motion from meeting of May 12, 2025, to recommend purchasing a diving board for $3,000 contingent upon review by Village Attorney Mike Bauer. Attorney Bauer’s opinion is that the Village should not purchase and use a replacement diving board that is not in compliance with current regulations. The State Pool Inspector does not consider this a repair, but a replacement, which would make the replacement board noncompliant. Mike Kitzerow is working with the state on an alternative, such as installing a ¾ meter board, which would be allowed. Motion by Brett Edgerle, second by Mike Wandschneider to rescind the motion from May 12, 2025, meeting and to table the diving board until there is further direction. Motion carried. 2. Review and Recommend Purchase of Lifeguard Training Supplies – the village now has a certified lifeguard trainer on staff, but not the training supplies needed. The village is paying $300 per lifeguard for training at another facility. Purchase of this equipment will allow training our staff and staff from other areas. Motion by Brett Edgerle, second by Kelly Kasten to recommend the Village Board approve an amount not to exceed $3,000 to purchase lifeguard training supplies, and request Recreation Director John Willadsen develop a fee schedule for training staff from other areas.
