Laconia Public Library Board of Trustees Minutes of Meeting November 18, 2015 Volpe Room VOTED : Minutes of September 24, 2015 approved. Motion: Smith; Second: Anderson. Unanimous [Finance] Laconia Public Library Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting in Volpe Room. Chairman Bob Selig called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Present: James Anderson; Kimberly Danosi; Glenn Smith; Director Randy Brough Not Present: Craig Clark; John Moriarty; John Perley; Liz Rosenfeld; City Council Liaison Brenda Baer 2015-2016 budget is prepared and ready for submission to Finance Department. Library is requesting $365.00 less than the current budget. Library is being impacted by the drug epidemic ravaging Laconia and New Hampshire as a whole. Camera system will be expanded and upgraded. Laconia Police Department will be asked to provide increased foot patrols. Private security options will be researched. STEM Committee formed to explore/develop elements of an LPL STEM program. Committee: Trustees Smith and Danosi; Director Brough; one, possibly two staff members. First meeting scheduled for December 17. Laconia Historical and Museum Society Director Brenda Kean is resigning her position. Contract with LHMS for creation of exhibits expires at the end of December. Library might wish to consider making the upstairs exhibit area available for other institutions in addition to LHMS. For LPL, as with downtown Laconia in general, The Pumpkin Fest was a resounding success. Children’s craft program drew 35; film drew over 80; Storytime had 45 attendees. Over eight hundred came through library doors, many, if not most, new folks visiting for the Festival. Board of Trustees recognizes all library staff, and in particular library staff who worked on Pumpkin Fest day itself. CBH Landscaping will create a plan to beautify the stump – filled strip of land between St. Joseph parking lot and LPL parking lot Upcoming meetings: Wednesday, January 13; Thursday, February 18; Thursday, March 24.
