BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES March 20, 2012 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Tilara McDonald-Treece and Norm Childress. Absent: Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the March 13, 2012 regular meeting. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. OLD BUSINESS Special Event Request-Walk for Hope (Tabled 3/13/2012) Mrs. McDonald-Treece moved to remove this item from the table. Mrs. Murray seconded. Removed. President Henriott presented to Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for Walk for Hope to be held on March 24, 2012 from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm on the John T. Myers Bridge. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Permission to Advertise-2012 CDBG & Glen Acres Neighborhood Sidewalk Replacement Project Phases I & II Jenny Miller, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise the 2012 CDBG & Glen Acres Neighborhood Sidewalk Replacement Project Phases I & II. The publication will run on March 23 & 30, 2012 with the bid opening on April 10, 2012. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Acceptance for Maintenance-Hawthorne Lakes Subdivision, Phase I Bob Foley, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Acceptance for Maintenance for the Hawthorne Lakes Subdivision Phase I for the sanitary sewer and water mains. The 3- year maintenance bond is the amount of $32,300.00 has been supplied. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety March 20, 2012 Page 2 Legal Counsel Permanent Easement for the Construction and Maintenance of Utilities-Wabash River Enhancement Corporation Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy Attorney, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permanent Easement for the Construction and Maintenance of Utilities for Wabash River Enhancement Corporation which will allow the city to proceed with the Pearl River CSO Project. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Water Pollution Control Significant Industrial user Permit-Lafayette Instrument Company Brian Beeler, Water Pollution Control, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Significant Industrial User Permit for Lafayette Instrument Company. This is a 4-year permit renewal and is permitted with the pre-treatment program. President Henriott abstained. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $1,797,823.28. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. MISCELLANTOUS Special Event Request-Beers Across the Wabash Ken McCammon, Friends of Downtown, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Beers Across the Wabash to be held on August 25, 2012 from 8:00am to 5:00pm on the John T. Myers Bridge. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Event Street Closure Request-Uptown Jazz & Blues Festival President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the Uptown Jazz & Blues Festival to be held on August 25, 2012 at 8:00am until August 26, 2012 at 2:00am. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Event Street Closure Request-Lafayette Farmers Market/Mini Markets President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the Lafayette Farmers Market/Mini Market to be held on April 7, April 21, November 10, November 17 and December 1, 2012. Mrs. McDonald-Treece moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety March 20, 2012 Page 3 Event Street Closure Request-Mosey Down Main Street Mr. McCammon presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the Mosey Down Main Street to be held on May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11 and September 1, 2012 from 4:00pm until 1:00am. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Banner Request-Homeward Bound Walk President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Banner Request for the Homeward Bound Walk. The banner will hang on Main Street from May 1 through May 15, 2012. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Taxi Cab Permit Chief Roush presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Taxi Cab Permit for Benjamin Paul Paxton. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. PUBLIC COMMENT There being no further business to come before the Board, President Henriott stated the meeting was adjourned.
