BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES August 14, 2012 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress and Tilara McDonald-Treece. Absent: Ron Shriner Ed Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the August 7, 2012 regular meeting. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Supplemental Agreement #2-Old Romney Rd Reconstruction and Twyckenham Blvd Roundabouts and Trail Project Jenny Miller, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Supplemental Agreement #2 for Old Romney Rd Reconstruction and Twyckenham Blvd Roundabouts and Trail Project with Butler, Fairman & Seufert in the amount of $74,450.00. The agreement is for the appraisals, buyer fees and right-of-way management. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Vectren Reimbursement Agreement-North Street Project Ms. Miller presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Vectren Reimbursement Agreement for the North Street Project in the amount of $38,194.62. This allows Vectren to put two mains, one down each sidewalk, with short side services. Mrs. McDonald-Treece moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Economic Development Certificate of Completion, Final Waiver of Lien and Guarantee-TSC Building Trades 3744 Kimberly Dennis Carson, Economic Development Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Certificate of Completion, Final Waiver of Lien and Guarantee for TSC Building Trades for 3744 Kimberly Drive. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety August 14, 2012 Page 2 Community Development Historical Demolition Permit-1205 Kossuth Street Brian Bugajski, Community Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Historical Demolition Permit for 1205 Kossuth Street. Mr. Bugajski stated that the structure is significant to the City’s historic fabric and recommended upholding the 60 day waiting period. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Water Pollution Control Release of Retainage-Orchard Heights Phase I Drainage Project Brad Talley, Water Pollution Control Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Retainage for Orchard Heights Phase I Drainage Project in the amount of $23,769.60 with Atlas Excavating. Mr. Talley stated there is $2000.00 retainage remaining. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $2,618,128.35. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Event Street Closure Request-YWCA Corn Hole Classic Debi DeBruyn presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the YWCA Corn Hole Classic to be held on August 18, 2012 from 8:00am-10:00pm in the YWCA parking lot. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Event Street Closure Request-WDGC Chainsaw Massacre President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the WDGC Chainsaw Massacre to be held on November 3, 2012 from 8:00am-6:00pm at Murdock Park. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Event Street Closure Request-Sterling Heights HOA Block Party President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the Sterling Heights HOA Block Party to be held on September 8, 2012 from 12:00noon-9:00pm on Langley Drive between Harrington Drive and Braxton Drive North. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Event Street Closure Request-Hog Roast & Block Party President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request for the Hog Roast & Block Party to be held on September 8, 2012 from 12:00noon-3:00am on September Board of Public Works and Safety August 14, 2012 Page 3 9, 2012 at 3114 Runyon Drive. The Board pushed the time frame back to midnight with an hour extra for cleanup. Mr. Childress moved for approval subject to the time change. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Special Event Request-Ribbon Cutting for Purdue Women’s Club President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Ribbon Cutting for Purdue Women’s Club to be held on August 16, 2012 from 9:00am-10:00am on the John T. Myers Bridge. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. McDonald-Treece seconded. Passed. Banner Request-Hunger Hike President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Banner Request for Hunger Hike to be hung on Main Street from September 4-18, 2012. Mrs. McDonald-Treece moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
