MINUTES
June 25, 2013
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in
the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Ron Shriner,
Norm Childress and Dawn Ross.
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the June 18, 2013 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross
seconded. Passed.
BIDS UNDER ADVISEMENT
All Structure Demolition located at 1329 Central Street
President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Contract with HWC Engineering for Lafayette Twyckenham-Poland Hill Roundabout Inspection
Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract
with HWC Engineering for Lafayette Twyckenham-Poland Hill Roundabout Inspection in the amount of
$92,165.92. Mrs. Leshney stated that the project will be bid in the next 2-3 weeks. The design for the
project was done by Butler, Fairman & Seufert. The goal is to bid the project on July 23, 2013 with a
construction on the project lasting 90 days. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded.
Passed.
Change Order #1-Veterans Memorial Parkway, Phase 2
Bob Foley, Engineering Office, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Change Order #1
for Veterans Memorial Parkway, Phase 2. The change order is for the replacement of a drive approach
that was not ADA compliant for cross slope requirements. The change order is in the amount of
$13,931.92. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.

Community Development
Amendment #1-CDBG Agreement between the City of Lafayette and Lafayette Transitional Housing
Center, Inc. for the Supportive Services Program in Lafayette-Program Year 2012
Jennie Peterson, Community Development, presented to the Board and recommended approval of
Amendment #1-CDBG Agreement between the City of Lafayette and Lafayette Transitional Housing
Center, Inc. for the Supportive Services Program in Lafayette-Program Year 2012. The amendment
reduces the service level projection from Three Hundred Fifty (350) beneficiaries to Three Hundred and
Twenty-Five (325) beneficiaries along with increasing the eligible activity unit cost from $26.29/person
to $30.37/person to adjust for the change in beneficiaries served. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr.
Childress seconded. Passed. President Henriott Abstained.
CLAIMS
Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $462,190.35. President
Henriott asked if there were any further questions other than the ones that were asked and answered in
caucus, there were none. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Event Street Closure Request-Dancing in the Streets
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request
for Dancing in the Streets to be held on July 19-21, 2013 from 8:00am-11:00am in downtown Lafayette.
Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Event Street Closure Request-Back to School Bash
President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Event Street Closure Request
for Back to School Bash to be held on August 10, 2013 from 5:00pm-9:00pm on North Street between 5th
and 6th Streets. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
