BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
MINUTES
November 19, 2013
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 9:00
a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm
Childress, Dawn Ross and Ron Shriner
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the November 12, 2013 regular meeting. Mrs.
Murray seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Legal
Grant Easement for Recreational Trail
Ms. Chosnek presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Grant Easement for Recreational
Trail. This easement will help connect the citywide trail system through this area of town. This will be
approved conditioned upon Mainstreet Asset Management acquiring title to the real-estate and will not
have an effective date until that time. There is no cost to either party. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr.
Shriner seconded. Passed.
Dedication of Public Right-of-Way-Mainstreet Asset Management
Jacque Chosnek presented to the Board and recommended approval of the Dedication of Public Right-of-
Way-Mainstreet Asset Management. Ms. Chosnek stated that they are granting the City of Lafayette
right-of-way that will benefit the city. This will be approved conditioned upon Mainstreet Asset
Management acquiring title to the real-estate and will not have an effected date until that time. Mr.
Shriner moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
CLAIMS
Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $3,742,392.62. President
Henriott asked if there were any further questions other than the ones that were asked and answered in
caucus. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed

MISCELLANEOUS
MatchBOX Coworking Studio Presentation
Dennis Carson, Economic Development Director, introduced Ashley Scott the MatchBOX Project
Manager and Michael Burger the President of Lafayettetech as partners for the MatchBOX startup
project. Mr. Carson gave a brief update on MatchBOX. Mr. Carson stated that Jason Tennenhouse has
been working on three areas that include brand & marketing, space planning and project development.
Ms. Scott stated that MatchBOX had their membership launch event on November 12, 2013 and started
accepting applications for membership. Ms. Scott stated that her main focus now will be to generate
members. Mr. Burger stated that he has been working with Ms. Scott on recruiting new members and
building the culture of entrepreneurship and the idea that they can create and build ideas. Mr. Burger
stated that this partnership will transition into not only the community impact but also an economic
impact. Discussion ensued.
Mayor Roswarski stated that the right team has been assembled for the MatchBOX Project with the right
direction and has hopes for great things to happen in the next few years. Mayor Roswarski thanked all of
the City of Lafayette departments with their response to the storm that came through Lafayette on
Sunday. Everyone worked long hours combatting the effects of the storm damage with helping citizens
with downed trees, water issues, drainage issues etc. The efforts of the employees the night of the storm
helped many citizens and businesses to be able to start rebuilding and back working the next day.
