MINUTES
February 10, 2015
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.
in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm
Childress, Dawn Ross and Ron Shriner
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mrs. Ross moved for approval of the minutes from the February 3, 2015 regular meeting. Mr. Childress
seconded. Passed.
BID OPENING
Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Bisulfite & Hydrochloric Acid
This being the time set to open bids for the Sodium Hypochlorite, Sodium Bisulfite & Hydrochloric Acid,
the following bids were received and opened:

Mrs. Murray moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Community Development
Agreement between the Lafayette Housing Consortium and Lafayette Transitional Housing Center 2014-
2015 Singles Program Rehab
Aimee Jacobsen, Community Development Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval
of the Agreement between the Lafayette Housing Consortium and Lafayette Transitional Housing Center
2014-2015 Singles Program Rehab. The agreement is to renovate the building and rental units at 312
North 8th Street. The building will continue to provide housing for single men and women who are
homeless or experiencing substantial barriers to permanent housing. The agreement is in the amount of
$95,000.00 with a completion date of May 15, 2015. Mr. Shriner moved for approval. Mrs. Ross
seconded. Passed. President Henriott abstained.
CLAIMS
Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $2,939,886.31. President
Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval.
Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
MISCELLANEOUS
Special Event Request-Homeward Bound Walk
Jennifer Layton, Lafayette Transitional Housing Executive Director, presented to the Board and
recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the Homeward Bound Walk to be held on April
12, 2015 from 11:00am-5:00pm at Riehle Plaza. Mrs. Layton stated that the goal is to raise $50,000 for
the following agencies: Lafayette Transitional Housing, Homestead Consulting, Family Promise,
Salvation Army and Rainbow Haven Transitional Housing out of Frankfort. Mrs. Ross moved for
approval Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.

Taxi Cab Permits
Chief Flannelly presented to the Board and recommended approval of two taxi cab permits for Chris F.
Salinas and Hannah Larissa Childress. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
Mr. Childress abstained.
