BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES June 2, 2015 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress and Dawn Ross. Absent: Ron Shriner Edward Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the May 26, 2015 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. OLD BUSINESS Agreement for Construction Services with Shrewberry & Associates (Tabled 05/26/2015) President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Recommendation for Award- Plaza and Interior Renovation for the Big Four Depot Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for Award for the Plaza and Interior Renovation for the Big Four Depot to Mid-States General and Mechanical Contracting Corporation with a base bid of $912,000.00. Mrs. Leshney recommended accepting Alternate #1, #4, #5 & #6 for a total bid contract amount of $1,005,400.00. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Contract- Plaza and Interior Renovation for the Big Four Depot Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the Plaza and Interior Renovation for the Big Four Depot with Mid-States General and Mechanical Contracting Corporation in the amount of $1,005,400.00. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Notice to Proceed- Plaza and Interior Renovation for the Big Four Depot Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Notice to Proceed for the Plaza and Interior Renovation for the Big Four Depot. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety June 2, 2015 Page 2 Permission to Advertise-Building Demolition for 1181, 1183 & 1185 Sagamore Parkway Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise the Building Demolition for 1181, 1183 & 1185 Sagamore Parkway. The notice will be published on June 5 & 12, 2015 with a bid opening on June 23, 2015. Mrs. Leshney stated these three (3) buildings are at the northeast corner of the intersection of McCarty Lane and Sagamore Parkway. These buildings are being removed for the future Sagamore Parkway Improvement Project with a detention pond and an additional lane of traffic will be added to that area. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Permission to Advertise-Streetscape Phase V Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise the Streetscape Phase V. The notice will be published on June 5 & 12, 2015 with a bid opening on June 23, 2015. Mrs. Leshney stated that this project is for five (5) different locations downtown. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Police Department Election of Police Civil Service Commission Member Deputy Police Chief, Dave Payne, presented to the Board and recommended approval to call for a meeting of the Police Department to elect a Merit Commissioner to the Police Civil Service Commission on June 16, 2015 at 11:45am at the Police Training Center. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $2,623,714.02. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. ANNOUNCEMENTS Immediately following the Board of Works meeting next week, the Water Pollution Control Department will be giving the Board an update on the North-End CSO Projects in the BOW Room.
