BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES June 9, 2015 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Cindy Murray, Norm Childress, Dawn Ross and Ron Shriner Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the June 2, 2015 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. BID OPENING This being the time set to open bids for the Winterset Drive Reconstruction Project, the following bids were received and opened: Rieth-Riley Construction Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $577,798.50 Milestone Contractors Lafayette, Indiana Base Bid: $440,936.70 Midwest Paving Noblesville, Indiana Base Bid: $372,034.20 Mr. Shriner moved to take the bids under advisement for further review. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. OLD BUSINESS Agreement for Construction Services with Shrewberry & Associates (Tabled 05/26/2015) President Henriott stated that this item will remain under advisement. NEW BUSINESS Economic Development Board of Public Works and Safety June 9, 2015 Page 2 Permission to Advertise-Renovation of the Long Center/Fire Protection (Redevelopment Commission) Jenny Leshney, Public Works Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise the Renovation of the Long Center/Fire Protection. The bid opening is set for July 14, 2015. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Permission to Advertise-Renovation of the Long Center/Roofing (Redevelopment Commission) Mrs. Leshney presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Permission to Advertise the Renovation of the Long Center/Roofing. The bid opening is set for July 14, 2015. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Purchasing Declaration of Surplus Property-Police Department Rick Morrissey, Purchasing Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Declaration of Surplus Property for the Police Department for various computers and monitors that are no longer in service and have been replaced with upgrades. The items will be donated to non-profit organizations. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Water Pollution Control Recommendation for Award-Rostone Circle Drainage Improvement Project Brad Talley, Water Pollution Control Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for Award for the Rostone Circle Drainage Improvement Project with F&K Construction in the amount of $124,705.00. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $580,083.05. Mr. Jones noted that there is a scrivener’s error on the date of the claims/vouchers. The correct date needs to reflect June 9, 2015 in two locations of the front page of the docket. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Shriner seconded. Passed. ANNOUNCEMENTS Immediately following the Board of Works meeting next week, the Water Pollution Control Department will be giving the Board an update on the North-End CSO Projects in the BOW Room.
