MINUTES
August 8, 2017
Regular Session:
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in
the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Norm Childress, Cindy Murray,
Dawn Ross and Ron Shriner
Jacque Chosnek, 1st Deputy City Attorney, was also present.
President Henriott called the meeting to order.
The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country.
MINUTES
Mr. Childress moved for approval of the minutes from the August 1, 2017 regular meeting. Mrs. Murray
seconded. Passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Engineering
Addendum #19-Utility Service Agreement for Daugherty Commerce-Starbucks
Bob Foley, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of Addendum #19 Utility
Service Agreement for Daugherty Commerce-Starbucks. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross
seconded. Passed.
Acceptance for Maintenance-Cobblestone Subdivision III
Mr. Foley presented to the Board and recommended approval of an Acceptance for Maintenance for
Cobblestone Subdivision III with Fairfield Contractors. Mr. Foley stated that the 3-year Maintenance
Bond in the amount of $21,391.00 has been provided. The as-builts drawings have been reviewed and
approved and passed all testing. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
Economic Development
Amendment #1-221 N. 4th Street Fire Service Line-Pure Eatery
Dennis Carson, Economic Development Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of
Amendment #1 for 221 N. 4th Street Fire Service Line-Pure Eatery. The amendment includes an increase
in the contract amount of $5,560.00 which brings the revised contract amount to $55,560.00. The
amendment also extends the finish time from July 31, 2017 to September 30, 2017. Mr. Shriner moved
for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.

Release of Mortgage-474 Maple Street, West Lafayette

Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of
Mortgage for 474 Maple Street, West Lafayette. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress
seconded. Passed.
Amendment #1-Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Faith Community Development
Corporation- 2016-2017 Project #1-Burroughs
Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of Amendment #1 for Agreement
between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Faith Community Development Corporation for 2016-2017
Project #1 1326 Burroughs. This amendment extends the completion of the renovation and sale to March
31, 2018. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed.
Amendment #1-Agreement between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Faith Community Development
Corporation 2016 CHDO Operating Funds
Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of Amendment #1 for Agreement
between Lafayette Housing Consortium and Faith Community Development Corporation for 2016 CHDO
Operating Funds. This amendment extends the completion of the agreement to August 31, 2017 to
process paperwork. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
Police Department
Byrne Local Law Enforcement Assistance Grant
Captain Brad Bishop, Lafayette Police, informed the Board that Lafayette Police will be applying for the
2017 Byrne Local Law Enforcement Assistance Grant and if received the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s
Department would receive $7,620.00 and Lafayette Police would receive $30, 400.00. The grant total for
both agencies is $38,020.00.
CLAIMS
Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $3,484,142.28. President
Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mr. Shriner moved for approval.
Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed.
