BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY MINUTES September 5, 2017 Regular Session: The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Common Council Chambers. Members present were: Gary Henriott, Norm Childress, Cindy Murray and Dawn Ross. Absent: Ron Shriner Ed Chosnek, City Attorney, was also present. President Henriott called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was given to the flag of our Country. MINUTES Mrs. Murray moved for approval of the minutes from the August 29, 2017 regular meeting. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. NEW BUSINESS Engineering Recommendation for Rejection-Prairie Lane Watermain Replacement Project Bob Foley, Engineering, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Recommendation for Rejection of the Prairie Lane Watermain Replacement Project. Mr. Foley stated that the sole bid received was significantly higher than the Engineer’s Estimate which was 38% higher. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Lafayette Housing Authority Release of Mortgage -200 Dehart Street, West Lafayette Valerie Oakley, Project Manager, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Mortgage for 200 Dehart Street, West Lafayette. Mrs. Oakley stated that this was a payoff of the mortgage balance. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. Release of Covenant for Deed Restrictions-1113 Weaver Court, Lafayette Mrs. Oakley presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Release of Covenant for Deed Restrictions for 1113 Weaver Court, Lafayette. Mrs. Oakley stated that this was an expiration of the period of affordability. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Board of Public Works and Safety September 5, 2017 Page 2 Human Resources ADA Transition Plan-Revised Kim Meyer, Human Resources Director, presented to the Board and recommended approval of the Revised ADA Transition Plan. The changes include new members on the committee and contact number for grievances to be filed. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. Clerk 2018 Holiday Schedule Mrs. Murray presented to the Board and recommended approval of the City of Lafayette 2018 Holiday Schedule. Mrs. Murray stated that the City will be open on Election Day as well as Good Friday. The employees in turn receive those as floating holidays. Mr. Childress moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Lafayette Renew Contract-Greenbush CSO Storage Tank Project Brad Talley, Lafayette Renew Superintendent, presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Contract for the Greenbush CSO Storage Tank Project with Bowen Engineering in an amount not to exceed $23,100,932.00. Mr. Talley stated that the four (4) major components of this contract include a 4.2 million gallon storage tank, backflow prevention structure, site work and an electrical building. Excavating of the site will begin at the end of September 2017. Mr. Talley gave the Board a brief description of the project. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mrs. Ross seconded. Passed. Notice to Proceed-Greenbush CSO Storage Tank Project Mr. Talley presented to the Board and recommended approval of the Notice to Proceed for the Greenbush CSO Storage Tank Project. The Notice to Proceed begins on September 5, 2017 with the Substantial Completion on May 31, 2019 and the Final Completion of June 30, 2019. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed. CLAIMS Mike Jones, Controller, presented for Board approval, Claims in the amount of $3,396,711.90. President Henriott asked if there were any further questions and there were none. Mrs. Ross moved for approval. Mrs. Murray seconded. Passed. MISCELLANEOUS Special Event Request-WREC Bi-Monthly Meeting President Henriott presented to the Board and recommended approval of a Special Event Request for the WREC Bi-Monthly Meeting to be held on November 8, 2017 from 12:00pm-5:00pm in the Big 4 Depot Community Room. Mrs. Murray moved for approval. Mr. Childress seconded. Passed.
